First of all! Big props to RJ member Recca74 for putting the time and effort to build these guys for me. He did an excellent job in both the assembly and painting of these guys and I am forever grateful to him for making one of my dream figures a reality! I highly recommend him for any of your modeling needs.
These are the two limited garage kits of Rockman Zero and Original X produced by Harvest Wks! To date you could only get these at wonderfest events and through auctions. I was lucky enough to get mine off of YJA and managed to pay a little over retail (originally sold for 6000 and 80000 yen (then up to 10000). In any case there may be a chance that mine were recast but they held up pretty well though I had to buy replacement joints since the ones included were poorly recasted (plus resin is fundamentally weaker then ABS so they wouldnt be able to last prolonged manipulation.).
I remember reading somewhere that these designs of RMZ were based of some original concept work but some artist (not the one that worked on the final game) or maybe they were HWks original interpretations? In any case I think these are the best designed of the few kits that are available of RMZ. They are also intuitively designed. The figure make look like its simply composed of mini ball joints but the way they are implemented is pretty ingenius, allowing RMZ and X a wide range of movement with minal joints used. The only major limitation is where the thighs meet the pelvic armor so you dont get a wide side vertical movement there but a lot of figures are incapable of that.
So whats bad about these figures? Well, first of all, they are incredibly tiny!! about 3" smaller then a GI joe in fact. Second, these are not for the novice model builder, these little guys have a lot of parts and require a lot of sanding, gluing, and drilling! It takes a lot of work to make these guys look and function properly. You dont need to paint them so much but they look 100X better if you do.
Now on with the pics. I could of took 100 more cool pictures showcasing they dynamics of the kits but honestly, I am surprised I did this many. I was particularly scared of breaking them and switching the hands was a bit of a pain. Furthermore, my grubby hands started to ware on the paint on the wrist braces so I decided to call it quits after the last pic. Enjoy!!
its hard to recommend these guys unless you are a super diehard fan of RMZ design and love miniature figures. I really dont like miniature figures especially for this price, but he is the coolest RMZ out there so you dont have a lot of choices in the first place.
