I have it coming with my march purchases from Amiami so we will see how it fairs MMJ, Thanks for telling me about the GFFN and that you purchased it from Ami Ami. Still looking forward to that review of it. I've never purchased from Ami Ami before. How are they to deal with? What's the turnaround like from paying to shipping? Strongly considering getting the V2 Gundam from them b/c of the great price.

They are pretty fast and if you order now you get half off ems shipping
Turn around is usually about two days asuming you pay on time and depending whee you live in the us it's about tree days shipping to you
I highly recomend them

Thank you very much for the reply MMJ! I just ordered the RS V2 Gundam set from Ami Ami. It'll go well with the rest of my V Gundam collection inc. The MSiP's which are also 1/144 scale.

I received the V2 Assault Buster Gundam from Ami Ami. EMS is definitely fast, but it took about 5 days to receive mine. I'll definitely be buying from Ami Ami again.
On to the figure. I was a bit surprised initially by the amount of soft PVC type material used in the figure. After playing around with the V2 the choice of materials does make sense for an "action figure" rather than a display piece. As much as I dislike the PVC material with it's not so pleasant smell, it makes the V2 far more playable with much reduced apprehension about breaking something. With all the parts swapping to covert to the different modes, you actually don't mind the soft plastic that can handle this without breaking tabs or pegs. There is some really malodorous plastic used for the Minovsky wings though. They are beautifully clear blue, but they smell sulfurous like skunk odor.
The V2 is wonderfully articulate. Well over 30 points of articulation inc. 2 points for the head/neck, rotation and anterior/posterior movement at the waist. A far cry from the MS in Pocket figures of the 90's or the 1/60 V2 Gundam kit. Articulation is one of the areas where the RD V2 really shines. However, the design results in it being back heavy especially with the monstrous attachments.
The other area that the V2 really shines is the set of accessories which allow you to turn the standard V2 into the Assault or Buster or Assault Buster V2 Gundam. A plethora of armor parts for the shoulders, knees, lower legs, skirt. These parts can really bulk up the figure. Then there are the gigantic beam weapons and the 2 different shields. There is even an attachment to beef up the standard beam rifle--very nice touch. Too bad it doesn't come packed with a stand -- this is sold separately.
Overall, a very nice figure. Got mine on sale at Ami Ami. Definitely worth it at the sale price considering all that you get. However, I'm not sure what the scale is for this. It's larger than the MS in Pocket 1/44 scale toys and considerably smaller than the Banpresto Perfect Transformation chogokin figures (which might be 1/100). So somewhere in between 1/144 and 1/100. Too bad it's not in a standard scale.

yeah i got it too but honestly the lack of abs isnt really due to durability but more to cost!! Plenty of durable abs figures have been made that dont suffer from the effects you mentioned but they do cost more. Take SHCMP for example, superbly well designed (and articulated) toys that are very durable but they cost a lot of money.
Also, V gundam is fairly small to begin with when compared to other gundams but this RD version is much smaller then 1/144 (which usually average around 5 ~6"). but i love his articulation, have yet to put on the armor though.... and dont know why they didnt use a clip joint for the rear skirt, but they added a swivel joint that moves left to right....... it works but its a strange choice.

Well, I recently received the RD Seravee Gundam on sale from Ami Ami. The Seravee is constructed of lots of hard ABS plastic except for the head, feet, thighs, waist, biceps, 1/2 of the forearms and part of the cannons which are made of soft PVC type plastic. It seems that Bandai could have used much more PVC on this figure but didn't for some reason. The massive armored legs and skirt armor are made of hard plastic. If they were PVC though the figure would be very heavy. The Serafim Gundam by contrast seems to be constructed of a greater relative proportion of PVC.
The RD Cherudim Gundam also appears to have a relatively higher proportion of PVC. On the other hand, the Arios Gundam seems to be made of a lot of hard ABS plastic.

yeah RD is a mixed match, there is no consistency between designs, some have more ABS over PVC and it follows into articulation too. Pretty furstrating, but one thing I am noticing is that PVC is becoming more prevalent in the latest releases but articulation is vastly improving. Is this a trade off or is bandai just being cheap? I personally like the added articulation so it doesnt bother me much but people tend to complain about thier price. Though im not sure which is cheaper to produce.

Well if it's the same as pipe in a hardware store PVC is usually a bit more expensive than ABS. Edit- According to Wikipedia ABS is more expensive to produce. Go figure?

I'm looking forward to the Robot Damashii RX-78-2. At this time, the only action figure of the RX-78-2 I have is the SCM figure, which is great, but I've had nothing but positive experiences with the Robot Damashii figures I have so I'm sure they'll do the Original Gundam justice.
