Granted, Daitarns were always popular. But now that the SOC has come out for this bot, everyone is searching under this name. This has happened with almost all robots for which new releases were made. So here's one that is missing a few parts, and who even knows if it has its head. This just crossed the $100 mark. Pretty insane. cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170477500926&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:ITAs more and more robots are rereleased, its getting harder and harder to get a reasonable deal on anything.

It's those Italians! Haha! Just kidding. But seriously, I'll bet it was won by a buyer in Italy. And that Taiwan English box set usually can go over $100, but usually in better condition. I guess you could always get boxed beaters for $35-$70? Other mint ones , including one I sold a couple years ago, MIB, went for $145-ish.
But you're right Myles, some robots ignite the nostalgia fuse in certain buyer groups, and suddenly everyone's got the same idea for a hunt. Same for Jumbos/Shogun Warriors, etc.
We can blame this particular robot on Chachipower though, hehehe

Ive lost out on TONS of Daitarn listings because of them! But yeah, since the SOC, there has been a resurgence of older Daitarn sales. Fortunately, Ive been able to snatch a bunch at great prices. Even a MIB for 80 Best offer and a PERFECT loose figure for 15 shipped. Jon, if you run across Daitarn stuff you wanna sell, you know who to contact first right?

Regarding the link xiombarg.....YES....it is expensive ;( . But I'll give kudos for the fact it is new old stock and perfect looking. -sigh- It seems high though...... For what it is worth, though, I personally justify a premium for the Japanese release. I'm just stupid that way LOL It used to bug me that the Taiwanese toys had quality issues. In hind sight, they weren't that bad. Ed

True..but still. $850? I would think more like $350 and that's accounting for condition. Am I wrong on this?

Did anyone here snag that MIB taiwan Daitarn on ebay for 134? Ive seen loose sell for over 80, Incompletes go for much more and MIB for over 250. I didnt bid on it cause i assumed it would end real high due to recent auctions... oh well. Tis a shame cause it looks case fresh.

Well, most of those Taiwan boxed ones I've seen have always gone for $120-$170. Usually never more than that. $250?? Ppffft. They can keep it, I'd save for a used boxed Clover at that point. More will always come, ....but again the Italian competition!! ARGH

Sucks, eh... try mowin the grass, only to have someone toss an SOC into the engine. ;D
I come across a lot of stuff on ebay- especially the old Banpresto vintage Mazzies. But it's the SOCs that burn me up.
I'm lookin for the GX-02R, and find many- but can't afford them just yet... so, If the seller is an actual store I bookmark the page so I can refer to it later on in case they sell one at a reasonable price. Not reasonable as in "super-low Talk-Down", I mean just simply reasonably price for a win-win transaction. I Never 'talk-down" transactions.

If somebody is buying at $850, it should be quite rare...right?

If somebody is buying at $850, it should be quite rare...right? That's not necessary true. There are some dumb collectors out there that over pay for everything. I still trying to find a couple of these buyers. As far as SOC ruining anything, I still think it better to bring in more interest. Yeah, this drives up the prices of vintages but it's still better than having a piece never appreciate in value.

E-bay tries to sell everything at insane prices. Many of the sellers think that if they wait long enough someone will buy their 600% marked up items.
