Awesome pics, MMJ. You know how the mantra goes... "I will not buy more evas. I must not buy more evas. I can not buy more evas." ... two days ago I bought more evas >.<. These Robot Damashii's are just too impressive to ignore

Thanks for posting these pics and for the first time ever, i can finally see how the Revoltech version measures up to the Robot Damashi version. Thanks in large part to your excellent reviews from before and the pictures, I decided to order both Robot Damashi versions of Eva Unit 01 and Unit 02 from Hobby Link Japan. Now if only it wasnt "Golden Week" i'd get them faster! ;D Just have two questions for you Mechamasterj. 1) First off how much easier again is it to pose these Robot Damashi Evas? From the looks of it without the Revoltech joints, seems like posing has been made all the more easier, with fluid motions instead of jerky posing. 2) How many more Robot Damashi Evas are you planning to get? Unit 00, the yellow Eva has already been revealed at a previous figure convention, which also comes with a N2 mine missile warhead that it used in the new movie. Awesome. It is also rumoured that a Robot Damashi Eva Unit 05 and Unit 03 and 06 will be made. Will you get these as well if they come to pass and are released for sale?

They are very cool. Yes its very easy to pose the figure without much trouble. I had oringally planned to do a pose for pose with both RT and RD Evas to show the limitations but it got very annoying trying position the RT figure. I found that the RD is capable of far more things and can do them much easier (with the RT being able to do like one thing that the RD couldnt do as well but i forget what that was lol). The only problem i had with the RD is that the leg would pop out here and there, easy to snap back in and it didnt just fall off. But in its defense i was really pushing it trying to find out all that it was capable of.
When it comes to figures of this sort, you kinda only need one to have them all since they are all relatively the same figure but with different accessories (case in point i didnt bother collecting all the RT Evas). However, these guys are so cool i wouldnt mind having more then one plus having a large array of accessories and weapons is cool too, so i may very well collect them all.

Great pics, MMJ!! Waiting on my Eva Unit 01 to join up. And I know what you mean, Quinjester! I don't want to buy another Eva figure either! Eva Units are similar to Optimus, Batman, Wolvie, Mazinger, Duke, Storm Shadow, and Snake Eyes figures for me now, just waaaaay too many of the same character over & over that all their coolness has faded for me. Still, the new anime has renewed my interest in the EVA franchise (just fell right into Bandai's hands lolz). @ Sachiel, I own a LOT of RD and RT figures and I like the RD line much more. I think RD owns RT in terms of quality (a lot less QC issues) and ease of poseability. However, RT has a lot of fantastic licences. RT is also meant to be posed more dynamically, they don't look that great just standing there, b/c they sag and characters always seem to stand with their legs wide apart.

I actually own most of the main Eva Revoltech releases that have appeared in the market over the years. I do like the paint and glossy-ness that's present on the figures. With Robot Damashii i just couldnt get over this "plastic-like" look that the figures exemplified. At least until Mechamasterj and others here said that its not really as bad as it seems. The review of Robot Damashi Eva Unit 02 expresses many of my own concerns. The reviewer did a good job highlighting the pros and percieved cons of the figure. insomniactoys.wordpress.com/2010/03/15/robot-damashii-eva-02/i sure hope that Hobby Link Japan processes my order soon. Can't wait. Also congrats on getting your Eva Unit 01s in the mail guys. Can't wait to hear from your reviews and what you thnk of the figure and its AT field accessory. ;D

RD EVA are great, but I still like the Tamashii SPEC EVAs more. They're bigger, look great, and very articulated as well. The drawback is the price on some of them are quite high. The regular Soul of Chogokins were great back in the day, but didn't age very well.

yeah most dont stand up to the test of time, unless you are a diecast fanatic, theres nothing that the soc excles over these RDs (except size and maybe accessories) everything else.... no contest
