the other day i was at a local show and i saw this oddity off in the corner of a booth. i said to myself "what kinada weird gobot rogun is that?" i got closer and noticed it said Robotech on the front. What it apparently is was a transforming water gun. I used to collect Robotech many years ago but have never seen this item. Kinda goofy looking as a robot. i think it is even smiling.

That's fascinating... people tend to forget that Robotech was a licensing brand (mostly for model kits) before it became the anime adaptation we remember it for. Makes me wonder what other oddities made it to North America along with this weird thing during that era...

actually i think this came afterwards, due to the Harmony Gold logo on it. when it was used mainly for model kits and stuff it was owned by mainly by Revell, if i recall correctly Revell thought up the name Robotech and even had the orguss kits aligned with there series long before Macross was even planned in the USA. the name sake and the rights to the Veritechs vehicles as well as other things was then purchased by Harmony Gold for use with the main line they were creating which all know are familiar with.
