Mpchi nailed most of it. I can't decide which I like better. Honestly I'm right in the middle, because the differences are such key assets. But here are some thoughts about each: -I like the paint much better on the SRC. -The Gimmicks of the Unifive are such a big plus. Most especially being the spring loaded doors and hatches. It seems small, but still very cool. - The action figure size is kind of fun, especially with how much metal and articulation it has, plus he just feels like a really solid, quality little guy. - Honestly I'm not that concerned with most of the additional articulation points of the SRC, because the stances I prefer for a bulky guy like Alteisen don't require the incredible amount of articulation the SRC version has, and for most power stances with a fair amount of action the Unifive works great.. EXCEPT the waist. I love a good rotating waist and the SRC has it. But with this said, the SRC is absolutely awesome in it's posability and range of motion. -Another reason I bought SRC Alteisen is because of the big picture. Assuming that SRC keeps making SRW figures, which it appears that way, SRC is the superior action line of figures. That being the case and where I just want a great line of SRW figures, SRC seems to be the best bet, so I'm going to go with it and hope they keep it up so I can having a matching collection of great SRW figures. -Would I get rid of my Unifive Alteisen if I decided I like the SRC better? Hell no. -Is the SRC Alteisen necessary if you already have the Unifive. No. -The Unifive Alteisen looks much better placed next to GX-46 than the SRC. My question is if I stick with the Alteisen unifive/banpresto version would it be in scale with SRC Weissbriter? I hope so.

My question is if I stick with the Alteisen unifive/banpresto version would it be in scale with SRC Weissbriter? I hope so. I think the Uni5 Alt is slightly larger than the SRC Alt at about 16.5 cm, so it will most probably be larger than the SRC Weiss since those two are supposed to be the same size. EDIT: will the SRC Gear Fighters only be sold in sets?

I finally got my SRC Alteisen today, and wow. I was expecting it to be nice, but this thing blows me (and my two Unifive Alteisens) away. The finish is beautiful, the heft is perfect, and the joints are smooth as silk but tight as anything. Everything is improved over the Unifive version, and while the SRC may lack the spring loaded effects and removable shells, I can't think of any reason to own the Unifive one over this. Size wise they're VERY close, with the SRC being just a hair smaller and slightly less bulky.
The SRC has slightly less diecast but it wears it better, without having the slightly sloppy paint applications and questionable joint design that mars the Unifive predecessor, and the joint tightness means it can actually pull off some great (and balanced) poses, such as bending backwards and firing its claymores straight up.
Also, the revolving spike is a solid piece of steel. Never before has gokin content been more appropriately placed.
Needless to say, I love it, and I highly recommend that those who bought the Unifive version check it out, even though they've already got a diecast Alteisen, because this one trumps it in almost every way.
I'll try and get some comparison photos up with both the unifive Alteisen and the Dengeki Weissritter (and maybe Alt. Reise for good measure) later.

It would be the greatest thing ever if Bandai puts a Gespenst MkII or MkII Custom in this line. Then I'll fulfill my dream of owning high quality toys of my top five mech designs (Alteisen, Weissritter, Gespenset MkII, Patlabor Ingram, Gunbuster) . The Gespenst sadly is a grunt unit, so it's unlikely, but ... if the SRW anime really takes off, maybe there's a chance that a MkII Custom gets made considering it's the main robot of a fairly significant character in the show....

Alteisen photos! Unifive is on the left, SRC on the right. The size difference isn't that significant, although the Unifive is significantly bulkier in design. The one place the Unifive wins out - the removable shells are hella cool, as is the fact that they actually function as "ammo" for the springloaded revolving stake on the arm. on the other hand, the spring attack is almost unnoticeable and you don't have to worry about the shells flying everywhere when you pop out the SRC's ammo chamber. You can get some okay poses with the Unifive alt, but the SRC has a much larger degree of flexibility in the waist, hips, and ankles. Also, it benefits from a much more conventional joint system (anyone who owns the Unifive Alteisen knows that I'm talking about with the hips) that's a hell of a lot easier to use, making the SRC easier and more fun to pose. Shoulder claymore! Effect parts would have been nice, but it's a minor quibble. The figure is stable enough that this pose is super stable, even though he's actually leaning back quite significantly. SRC Alteisen with the Dengeki Hobby Alteisen Reise. The size is still fairly comparable. The Alt. Reise is a bit of a clusterf@#% of greeblie bits and oversized parts. I definitely prefer the cleaner look of the stock Alteisen Kyosuke and Excellen! I think it's fair to say that the SRC SRW figures are going to be about the same size of the Dengeki hobby figures (and therefore a bit smaller than the model kits). It kind of sucks for the people who bought the DH figures for ridiculous prices, but at the very least they're a far superior toy

thanks quin for the comparison pictures! I like the unifive sculpt a little better than the SRC, but it seems that the paint job is far superior on the SRC. The poor paint job and funky joint system were reasons I didn't keep the unifive. I may just pick up the SRC when I go to Hong Kong during thanksgiving!

I also got mines today, the src alteisen. Worth every penny. I was expecting it to be a light weight and smaller size. But it has decent amount of diecast. I really like the metallic sparkle. Would really like to get more SRW in the SRC line.

The poor paint job and funky joint system were reasons I didn't keep the unifive. I may just pick up the SRC when I go to Hong Kong during thanksgiving! I'd definitely recommend it . I agree that I kind of like the heftier, more chunky look of the Unifive (it's a bit more appropriate for the brute nature of the Alteisen), but the paint job on the SRC version is absolutely gorgeous. The metallic paint is classy and isn't overdone, and the fact that Bandai made the conscious decision to expose bits of raw burnished steel and zinc in the joint work really speaks to how they wanted to make this toy appeal (successfully) to gokin collectors. It's so much more solid and handle-able than the Unifive is. It's as nice to hold as it is to look at, it really is.

Haha, I knew quinjester would go gaga over the new src alteisen once he gets a hold of it! ;D Who wouldn't right? It's a masterpiece as it is. Great pics especially the one with weiss! src alteisen actually has four "cheat points" on the ankles, knees, waist and neck, to make him taller and grow to about soc sizes!

Nice pics quin! I agree with everything you've said. I prefer the SRC but I still like all the mechanisms and whatnot of the Unifive. But the SRC wins. Nice solid quality and playable feel about him.
