Regarding the Skeleton, I don't really think it's that surprising of a choice at all. Both the film and especially the specific scene that it comes from (along with its creator, Ray Harryhausen) are hugely influential and important in the world of special effects. Quite possibly even moreso than the likes of Godzilla, for example. It's no coincidence that one of this line's names is SFX -- this whole line is a celebration of this sort of thing. All that said, and even though I like the figure, I'm not sure if I'll get it. Have to be pickier these days The scene in question, pretty revolutionary for 1963: Also, magengar: As cool as the skeleton is, I don't think it can really be considered an anatomically correct model, strictly speaking. There's a fair amount of stylizing to it, although all of that is true to the source film. Not trying to be a jerk or a downer with any of this, just my thoughts.

You're right and I agree with you, that is a Very stylized skeleton. But, damn, it's also a very Intriguing stylized skeleton, too! Thanks for posting that youtube clip. I was a little kid the first time I ever saw that movie; and that Skeleton battle scene stuck in my head. The way they creep out in the open, the background music, and the ambience... are still fresh in my mind. I can't help being so wonderstruck about the way it looks- it's got that godhead Sick evil grin on its face like it can't wait to cut loose and start some sh*t as soon as it gets home to a collector's shelf... ...the rest of my figs have No CLUE what's headed their way. LOL! ;D Pit a gang of Skellies against SRC Mazinger-Z and Great Maz, break out a good video camera, and a good movie editor- and you'll have the most Badassiest sword fight ya ever seen on this side of the hobby. ;D zozo-Magengar

Yeah, doing stop motion with one of these is practically a must. Tell ya what, if I get one, I'll make a short animation myself

Yeah, doing stop motion with one of these is practically a must. Tell ya what, if I get one, I'll make a short animation myself It is a cool idea. However REVOLTECH joints are very limited, it is hard to do any 'smooth' animation.

Don't worry about them joints; it need not be a smooth stop-mo animation. Anything goes. Be creative, and also make it look funny so's we all can enjoy a good laugh.
Wanna see a cool example? ...I think TheMazingerZ might still have an animated thingy he once did with a bunch of Spiderman figs and a Yamato Giant Robo figure, they were havin a slugfest in front of his CRT computer monitor, caught on a webcam... it's an old animated .gif, but it stuck in my head and I got a kick out of it. ;D
As for the background music... I don't have a Xylophone, but I can play my rib cage pretty decently. ;D

Hi cyrano, while you are definitely correct with the back history of sfx and the impact that the movie had in the 60s and 70s, my concern with the choice of this figure was from a toyline perspective. Thruthfully speaking, depite its heritage and being more sacred to the film/sfx genres, from a toy perspective the sfx line should be brining out its big guns first. They had the right idea with the Alien being their first choice. Huge fanbase, contemporary theme and a I.P. that is still being developed in media today. This allows for future sales and a big impact to toy collectors which helps fortify the SFX line into a strong brand. While you are right about the significance of Jason and the Argonauts vs Godzilla, nobody in the world would like to compare the kind of obscene sales that a bigger more contemporary I.P. would have brought to the young toyline like SFX. Their choice of the Maser cannon is another one that makes very little sense so early. So my reason for pointing out the choice of figure was not due to its relevance to film history but more the market sensiblity of a new toy line looking to stable itself and be around for a while. However as has been pointed out earlier, most ppl will be getting it because its a skeleton, and not really for its sfx significance anyway. It could just have easliy been part of the revoltech-human anatomy series and still got the same response, so its actually interesting to see the feedback its getting

It's a rendition of a "Skeleton" made by Kaiyodo for their Revoltech SFX line... and it stands out to me as a unique Skeleton sculpt apart from every other toy skeleton I've ever seen in my lifetime. To me, it's not a Kayiodo-made skeleton... That name wasn't on my mind while I've been oogling over this- all I see is an awesome friggin stick of bones standin there proclaimin itself as The "Badass". LOL ...it's just one Badass Skeleton. For a while there I completely forgot that it's a Kaiyodo product... ...all I knew was that this is one Badass Skeleton I'd like to have. I don't care otherwise which company makes it or who makes it, as long as the sculpt is a work of art I want this one Badass Skeleton. If anyone deserves the credit, I gotta give Kaiyodo their Props for steppin up to bat in making this one Badass Skeleton. Play Skool, or Mattel, or Mego, or Milton Bradley, or any of them toy companies coulda made this skeleton toy--- but it was Kaiyodo who took the honor of makin this one Badass Skeleton. I'm excited about it. I can't wait to creep with it. I'm savin up my chump-change for it starting Now so's I can have this one BADASS SKELETON. ;D Late edit:My drummer buddy is a McFarlane fan with SPAWN figures in his collection....... if he see's me with This revoltech Skeleton, he'll trash his Spawn figures, jump me for THIS, and we gonna come to BLOWS. That's how Badass this Skeleton realy is. ;D Ok, Kaiyodo--- now Where the Fk is my MAZINGERS? ?!!!!!! ;D zozo-Magengar

I feel like I was a little narrow-minded before. It would've been really interesting to be a fly on the wall during the meeting Kaiyodo decided to make the Skeleton.

Nah, you weren't narrow-minded, bro... The skeleton idead just happened along, that's all. Perhaps we'll also see characters from the old Sinbad movies, and some Hollyweird B-movie characters like: the tall b*tch from "Attack Of The 50ft Woman", GORT from "The Day The Earth Stood Still", Vampirella from "Plan 9 From Outer Space", The cast from "Rocky Horror Picture Show", Monster-X, the Gargantuans, Jet Jaguar, the monsters from "Clash Of The Titans"... the Munsters! The list could go on..... ...it's only a matter of time and whatever direction Kaiyodo decides to go next. zozo-Magengar

The Voltes crew! The Albegas pilots! ALL of them!
Bro, if Kaiyodo can make all these other human anime characters (typically from modern animes even I haven't heard of), than I'm sure they Can make the robot pilots. It's just a question of WHEEEN. ;D

they made the EVA pilots so why not more pilots from other anime series ... we'll just have to wait and see
although if another toy company makes them 1st lets say figuarts ... then I'm there.
revoltech has has been a great toy line - certainly affordable. I do wish they were a bit taller though.
I do wish they'd go back to making robots though Getter ark is coming but what other New Robot is in the works ? I don't know. I cant think of one.

Along with robot pilots, I want a revoltech Spiderman. They made Batman once. When will they make my favorite American super hero? I want one so hard to replace my old Spiderman 2 figure. And while they're at it, they should make Doc Ock. Can you imagine the amount of revoltech joints they'd do for his mechanical arms?

That'd be cool, I don't think he's ever gotten a well articulated figure (although I could easily be wrong on that). Speaking of costumed heroes, do you know who else would be great? Zebraman. Re: Pilots -- Probably not in the SFX series. Female pilots could show up in the Fraulein series (as Rei, Asuka, and Mari from Evangelion and Yoko from Gurren Lagann already have, multiple times), and there's always the possibility that Yamaguchi could do one, although I wouldn't hold my breath waiting. Unless a new line of Revoltech pilots is started (unlikely, IMO), the odds seem really low of us seeing any - unless they're teenage girls in skintight clothes from a popular Gainax series that isn't GunBuster.

From an SFX perspective i would love a fig of "Robby the robot" from Forbidden Planet, though from a toyline perspective i would love a Flash Gordon figure.

What about the Marvel Legends/Spider-Man Classics line (Toybiz)? They weren't perfect, but I thought those were actually pretty articulated. A Toku Spidey would rock however! Zebraman would be sweet. I still need to go to my local movie store and pick up the DVD!

I really liked the 18 inch tall Spiderman 2 with 64 points of articulation . No toy I own can move like that. Revoltech has a lot of work to do its ashame that more characters didn't follow in the 18 inch series . I would loved having a Batman like that. as for actually buying a Revoltech Spiderman depends on what they do with it . Other toy companies have done such a good job with the character already.

Gotta pose that V hand "Live Long and Prosper" salute, or it aint no revo. LOL! Revoltech Mr. Rogers with a spare pair of Vans. LOL! Daaamn, lemme shyaddap... every time I start Wish-listing I get carried far-fetched away. ;D zozo-Magengar
