We'll just have to wait and see what happens next. Only Acturus can tell us what's going on back there, and just so much limited information, too... ...if it's a Go, then we'll have to be patient with any future news on this project. ...if it's a No, then at least we got to enjoy some of this project's work in progress; and we'll still appreciate Acturus for his efforts and his love for this hobby. zozo-Mag

So, an artist is not allowed to make a figure of a robot that really does not officially exist at all? That is crap!

But the difference is that the custom you made is from an actual mecha from the UFO Grendizer series. The figure acturus was making is from a mecha that does not exist at all. It may look like Grendizer, but is not identical. The only issue I see if with the Grendizer name in it, but that can easily be changed. Since it does not belong to anyone, he can surely make it and sell it if he wants.
Besides, look at the koreans and all their rip-offs from japanese licensed characters. No problems there.

Actually in Korea they don't give a crap about copyrights even though they do have laws to protect them but i guess there law is different in that country? just to give you an idea how much they don't care, check this link: iliveinkorea.blogspot.com/2010/06/copyright-infringement-in-korea.htmlTrue King Grendizer does not exist, but is base on a design wise and name from Grendizer and many people where asking for the guy to distribute it so i see the danger in here.

I guess when folks started asking for it, that drew the attention of So-n-So; and then it was Lights Out. -------------------- "Flush, the Flying Commode" zozo-Mag

I still say make it and sell it, but don't call it Grendizer. Nobody will be able to do anything about it then.

Yeah, that licensing stuff sometimes is taken too seriously by us collectors. I personally have done business with several sellers on Ebay that specialize in making customs not only from Super Robot characters, but from DC and Marvel as well. They sell the stuff on Ebay with the actual names of the characters and everything... none of them have had any trouble, and they have been selling their custom figures for years.
Oh well, I'll just follow their lead and make me one myself... and one for Tony!

"Licensing"... in relation to this hobby...
...now That would be an interesting topic to discuss. What's a license, and how to get one from the original source, so that hobbyists can reproduce their own renditions of a favorite toy character and sell, trade, or share those items with other fans and hobbyists in the community.
Not that any of us technically NEED a license, because we share stuff here all the time. I second TMZ, I've seen gangs of custom-made action figures of DC and Marvel characters pimped out at eBay so much you could hold your hand out the window and catch one... I haven't seen any trouble with them folks selling those customs; and those figures do look pretty damn good, too.

First off we're just widely guessing and speculating what is happening, unless I hear it from Actarus then pretty much this whole conversation is just gossip. As for making custom figures and selling them I've seen it both ways where companies just ignore it or they go after the maker so it seems it's pretty arbitrary and just luck of the draw. I will say this, if Nagai/Dynamic/Bandai did go after Actarus because he was showing off pics of a character that was based of a fanbased design then I have a feeling it was because King Grendizer MAY be similar to a design in a rumored Grendizer return....
