If someone could shoot a pic of both side-by-side, I'd be interested to see this. I don't own the SRC and my Riobot is in storage, but I've done a quick Google search and got heights alternating between 14.5cm and 15cm for both, with the Riobot being 14.5cm in most reports. So scale-wise the drill should fit. And if the stock plug bit doesn't fit, I'm sure it's easy to make it fit or build your own. I'm really tempted to order one myself, now... May I dare ask you what that cheap find of yours is? (If it's not a one-piece deal.)

hi yeah i noticed they were similar scale I too have seen them side by side on google as well. so modding the drill might be easy it was a one time deal not a shop for $25.00 but i may grab it if it is as easy as i think

Riobot is slow, but damn they know how to make robots. Their engineering IMO even exceeds fewture. Based on that I don't mind the slow production/release times, especially if they come out like the riobot gurren lagann. I'm not even that crazy about GL but wow, I never get tired of looking at it!
Can't wait for lazengann!

Pretty much the same height, then. Drill set bought.
Thanks!

Man the RIOBOT version looks so damn good especially when placed by another GL figure.

I agree. It is such an impressive figure when you see it on the shelf. When friends come over it is the most oft commented on.

It still amazes me how much Bandai dropped the ball on the lower half of GL. I mean I can see they were going for a very dynamic stylistic look, but ultimately I think it really bit them in the ass. The riobot version is still an incredibly pretty display piece that I like to handle occasionally.

They had a running article following their design process. Still I do like the Riobot version better I just like the price in the SRC better lol.

It's indeed a gorgeous little piece of awesomeness.
And I'm happy to confirm (4 years late) that the SRC's giant drill looks great on the Riobot. It just needed a little easy-to-make homemade adapter.

I just added this guy to my collection. So happy to have him. I'm considering this figure because it's absolutely beautiful and the members of RJ love it. But, boy... $250 is a lot for a small plastic robot. Do you feel it's worth it?

it's absolutely beautiful Yes. No. As great as it is, it's difficult to recommend it at more than twice the original retail price. There's a few for $180-$200 (new with free shipping) on the Amazon.com Marketplace. That's a bit more reasonable and you may find a better deal if you're patient. Of course, if Sentinel ends up finally releasing Lazengann, they're likely to re-release Gurren Lagann as well to go with it. Or they may never do. Who knows.

I hadn't thought to check Amazon. I'll keep an eye out. What do you guys think the chances of an SOC release are?

Chance of a SOC is not low. GL is a popular show and bot design. However, I don't think a SOC can replace Sentinel's GL per se, due to its unique style and joint articulations. I would say its still worth it if you can get it around the $150 ballpark, seeing similar Tamashii Web Exclusives figures can cost as much. Its a great piece.

It's on Amazon for around $180. It really is beautiful, and I've paid that much for Evolution toys. I'll add it to the list.

I'm hoping Sentinel will do a bigger release like Mazinkaiser down the road, but probably not.
