I don't have the Konami Diecast version so I may have to settle with this one, pending on the price and how it actually looks and holds up. I have the Revoltech version and Konami's regular impact model version, and not all that impress with the look of either one. Bandai's Composite version Ka wasn't as attractive as this one.

Don't get me wrong, this is a cool figure, even if it is not anime accurate. However, it could have been an awesome figure instead with the proper paint job, completely outshining the rest.

Wait, now that you bring it up I realized that this gurren lagann is not like the anime one! Damn it, and I wanted it so bad!

depends on how you look at it, it actually matches how they dramatize GL in the anime in some scenes..... well close enough anyway.
yeah a good paint job would really push it over the edge, but as it is it looks better than any of the other ones inculding the konami figures..... nowwwwwwwwww if articulation sucks then super pass for me but if its as good as their broken blade figures............ id almost buy two!! lol

I beg to differ with you on this, but when it comes to anime accuracy, the Riobot Gurren Lagann doesn't look better than the Konami renditions. And it DEFINITELY doesn't look better than the Konami Great Impact Model Gurren Lagann, no matter what it is compared to. But don't take my word for it, check it out: www.collectiondx.com/node/2470THAT is a thing of beauty!!! }D

You know what themazinger........ i just realized that I never seen a proper review of this figure and I must say I am very impressed. I guess I kept hearing that the figure wasnt really all that and honestly after reading and watching the video im not sure why people would say that. Its pretty damn sweet. to bad its super hard and expensive to find now.
Now back to what I said before, I didnt say riobot was more anime accurate I just said if you watch the show and how they stylize GL in many scenes, riobot fits the bill or close too them. NOw this impact GL is very acurate for a straight forward line art perspective. but where style is concered this rio bot is the ish.
Man i am impressed by the level of articulation in such an old toy (by todays standards).. I hope the riobot is as articulated (and more so) than this one..... so i wont feel so bad I missed out on it now........... unless u want to sell me yours lol

Funny story, but I missed out on getting the Impact GL when it was first released (at a reasonable price). I didn't even like the concept because I thought it was a rip-off of Gaiking. It wasn't until I actually watched the anime that I realized how cool this mecha actually was, and that I HAD TO HAVE IT! I paid quite a lot more than the original price for mine, but it is really worth it.

The Great Impact Model was just too expensive, I remember hlj putting up preorder when the had some extra stock. Unfortunately the order never came through. I've had chances to pick it up but I just refuse to overpay for it. Could of gotten it at 250$ many times over the past couple of years. Mainly the great impact model was compared a lot with the Max Factory Godannar. So I can imagine what the Great Impact model is like in terms of the poseability and size.

I agree that the Great Impact was overpriced, but it's still a very high quality toy. It falls more into the quickly-becoming-standard high prices of today's economy and toys than it did when it came out - clearly its MSRP was ahead of its time, hah.

If there's gonna be a winged version of GL, that's the one I would get. Not feeling anything for the Lazengann thou. I would've bought an Enki/Enkidu/Enkidudu in a heartbeat, but Lazengann...meh.
