I'm trying to decide on either the Aoshima Getter 1 with more gimmicks or the more articulate Bandai SOC GX-52.
Which one do you prefer based on how you enjoy owning it?
thanks

I voted for the gx-52 . I have several of Aoshima Getter 1 . They are beautiful figures Big Heavy Diecast . As cool as they are what they don't have is articulation. The Gx -52 has much better joints . I dont think that the extending elbow joints on the Aoshima look as good as the joints on the SOC. Yeah they work but the SOC does it better and the knee joints on the SOC have a greater range of motion , the SOC has a waist joint. yes the Gx-52 is smaller but I think it offers more for the money. I do think the SOC should have been made bigger .

I only have Aoshima Getter. But I agree with Ancer. Bandai's GX52 has much better articulation, more fun to play and to pose. However it is smaller and less diecast content than Aoshima's version.
Also if you would like to get a Black Getter 1 later, that you can only find it from Aoshima.

I have both, but voted on Bandai GX-52. Poseability and proportion is better (though it is smaller than Aoshima version). The Aoshima (and by the way, all Aoshimas) has superior die-cast content, but engieering wise, Bandai is the one. Also, there is a "risk" if you start with one Aoshima, you may want all color variations ...

I own none of them, but if I were to buy one I would go with the SOC version. The colors and proportions are much better, only flaw for me is the eyes.

I voted for the GX-52. The Aoshima may be heavier, but the SOC version is no slouch in that department either.

Aoshima. It looks way better and has a lot more diecast. You can also get the Black Getter, the Training Version Getter, and the Damaged Version Getter. Are you going to play with it a lot? If you want a better playability figure (toy), then the Bandai SOC is the one you want. However, if you want a better display figure, Aoshima all the way!!! }D

GX-52. Great articulation and more fun to handle. The Aoshima Getter(s) are nice and heavy, but limited in how you can pose them. Pretty paperweights.

Personally I care more about overall aesthetics & diecast heft than articulation so I'm inclined to go with the Aoshima.
Its got better details, better paint, a ton of die-cast and its bigger. Right out of the box the weathered Aoshima Getter 1 looks absolutely gorgeous, looking more like a model than a toy.
GX-52 looks pretty tacky when put beside the Aoshima one. it doesn't even have translucent chest accents let alone openning pilot canopies.
I have the Damaged & weathered version I thought of selling one of them to get GX-52 but I figure its just not worth it, I may be saturated/sick of aoshima's repaints but in terms of overall aethetics and quality I'd take it over bandai's....for non-combiner chogokins that is.

Aoshima Getter 1. For me it's more accurate looking, better details, and more diecast. the normal version is simply the best...

I voted for gx-52. I have both of them but just find the SOC more fun to fiddle with. Holds poses nicely too. Size didn't matter too much to me it seems.

Depends what you want, if I were just getting one then GX-52 but if I wanted variations then get the Aoshima versions.
But for me personally I still think GX-06 is the definitive version of the original Getters and be my first choice before either GX-52 or the Aoshima's.

i personally like both, but since aoshima getter is harder to get, you may as well go with SOC

I got the Aoshima a while ago, before the GX-52 came out, and I am rather happy with it. Then again, I put my figures in one pose and they stay like that for quite a while, or they stay boxed.

speaking of posing- which one is more stable standing up on its own? wherein a jolt to the cabinet will not make it fall. for the gx-52(with and without the stand)
with the limited chogokins I have- the only one that feels very stable is the daimos with its big feet.

if you're worried about shelf diving, get some quakehold from home depot. They work great.
The Aoshima is stable but very heavy, so shelf diving is possible. I'm still holding out on the GX-52. Good luck.

Just an update- I ended up with the aoshima. I really dig the detailed cockpit seat & switch to open the beam door. This suits me better since I like the gimmicks. Thanks for all the posts.
