Man, I'll have to wait till I get home to check this out! Blocked by the work-spot! LOL! Looking forward!
I really dig the Mecha Collection stuff Bandai's put out. Still need Getter Robo, and Shin-Maz. Oh yeah, and Raideen!!

Thanks, glad you like! Grab the whole line while you can. I haven't seen many more of these kits made since the Shin Mazinger kit. Most of the older kits are still around, but getting harder to get (and out of stock at many online shops like BBTS); and then there's the extra-heavy versions, and of course the double Mazinger pack (the two 'zingers from the Mazinkaiser OVA) which I'd really like to score. I wanna buy as many more of these as I can afford so's I can make customs from them... I wanna make some mechanical monsters for Mazinger-Z (like Garada and Doublas... you can use the same robot parts for either one; just mod the parts into shape). zozo-Magengar

Yep, damn wind knocks 'em down all the time.
It was blasting windy yesterday afternoon while I snapped pics of Maz (wearing his Scrander) outside on my porch... the wind blew it over. Luckily it didn't break.
I mean what I said about the joints being prone to break if the model's left unposed for a long time, especially in warmer climates. I learned that lesson the hard way with other figures. So, I lightly sand the joint pegs with 320grit sandpaper just enough to fit the peg tight in the hole, but allows the joint to move a little more freely without friction and the frightening "friction rub" noise***, then apply just a tiny touch of vaseline.
*** When you move a toy joint... if the joint makes a friction-rubbing sound, it means the joint's in the socket too tight it could almost break. The friction generates heart very quickly and breaks the plastic part; especially ABS plastic.

Thanks guys! Yep, my Raideen kit is next- starting this weekend... ...to be honest, the Raideen kit intimidates me more than the Maz kit ever did; because the Raideen kit has more parts- and some of the armors are split-cast in two parts (ie: the lower legs, and the body). The Maz kit is my first MechaColle kit I ever built, so it tought me what to expect and what mods I can do when I build future mechacolles. ;D zozo-Magengar great work. It looks awesome. I really should find some time to start on my Raideen kit...

Magengar, vaseline and plastic are a bad combination. With time the vaseline petroleum contents will deteriorate the plastic parts and disaster will follow. If you must lubricate the joints, which I don't recommend, use a silicone based lubricant instead - make sure it states on the can that it is safe for plastics...

Good catch there. I forgot that vaseline also dries with friction, producing more heat against the parts. Glad I read this Now before it's too late. The only silicone-based lube I can think of right now is the ol' KY jelly... just a tiny needle-point sized dab on the joint peg oughtta help. Otherwise, I won't lube the joint peg at all, but gently sand it with 320grit sandpaper just enough to let the peg turn freely inside the socket yet Still keep the limb from falling off when posed downwards. I'm also curious to see how small Revoltech joints (6mm or 8mm) would look on repro parts made from these kits. ;D I already ordered the Revoltech Joints and Tool pack and they'll arrive to me in a few days. The joints are orange, but I can paint them a nice flat grey and "rib" them, so's I can try them on a MC kit. zozo-Magengar Magengar, vaseline and plastic are a bad combination. OT...... That project was, what, THREE summers ago! ;D Yeah, the Great Mazinger jumbo customization jammy... ...I'll resume working on it very soon. I wanted to customize that jumbo so's I can add more articulation to it --- the Mechacolle kits and the Revoltech joint assemblies will help me understand how to produce joint systems for articulation; and I also wanna make him look like he does in his anime series... If I can reproduce custom-made "Revoltech" type joints large enough for Jumbos and make it work, I will raid RJ for every battered Jumbo I can get my tweaky gadget-fiending hands on! ;D zozo-Magengar hey magengar, i got a question but is a bit off topic, what happened to the great mazinger project you had?
