Coming this September from "Union Creative" - a relative newcomer to the world of poseable figures (they do a lot of statues and the like, apparently). A pretty neat looking mecha from a relatively interesting manga/show. The robots in this show get REALLY beat up, so it's interesting/kind of appropriate to see that "damage" is actually being molded and painted into the figure itself. Hopefully it doesn't look too cheesy on the final version though - damage detailing can be a very subjective thing. Photoblog of an unpainted sample showing articulation: gamu-toys.info/sonota/sonota/riobot01/riobot01.htmlPossible future version: ameblo.jp/riobot/entry-10602323934.htmlI made the mistake of reading through most of the currently translated mangas that are available so now I desperately want this, but at $60 or so at the current rate of exchange for a 5 inch tall figure, it'll be a bit dear. Anyone else getting this? There's been a few model kit releases from Kotobukiya that tempted me a bit, but having read the mangas the "puffy" proportions of the main figure have put me off.

Hey Quin, I hope this is not another one of your Fabrications.......... ;D Oy! I resemble that remark. EDIT: If there's one thing that jumps out at me as looking not quite right about this figure, it's the broadsword. Considering the Broadsword was big enough to be used as a shield for the body, and was supposed to be too heavy for any of the other mechs to use, it doesn't seem appropriately large on this figure (although the bullet holes along the blade are a nice touch).

Looking at this new magazine scan from the first page, I just realized it has a different shoulders from the previously shown prototypes/the one in the manga I linked above. I wonder if the toy itself will come with multiple shoulders (the first sortie of the robot ends up with them being destroyed and replaced later) or if there are multiple releases planned.... hrm... I don't want to end up having to buy more than one of these things, ideally >.< Three different generations of the Dirfinge:

im getting this, I also have the model kits, though, havent built any off them. They are based on the frame arms frame though so they should be quite poseable. I will be selling my model kit if your interested at a discounted price of course lol.

Aha, it turns out the magazine scan I posted first is actually a limited release version, which is why it has different shoulders. Bah! The price they're charging for these, I'm not going to deal with limited editions. ngeekhiong.blogspot.com/2010/08/sd-sangokuden-anime-new-characters.htmlIt's okay though, because I actually prefer the look of the 2nd version. Now I'm concerned that a heavy armor version will follow. That'd be the one to get, as long as the armor is removable...

I thought I saw a pic with the amor removed on ngee bit not sure Do you mean on the base figure or on the "armored up" version that hasn't gotten an official release notice but was shown on the blog? Because that one can be de-armored (and it's slightly different than the 1st and 2nd form:

I thought it was the one fully armored up as it was shown at some special event but I now wonder if it was kotobukiya model kit or this riobot... Hmmm

Kotobukiya hasn't shown an armored version yet, I don't think.

I realize I've been talking at cross purposes to myself this entire thread vis-a-vis the different versions that will or wont be coming out in the Riobot line, which is probably making it confusing. I tend to ramble to myself which is probably not ideal in a public forum. I will make it right. Overview:- Union Creative will be releasing a 1st ("As discovered") type as a magazine exclusive. - Union Creative will be releasing the 2nd ("As rebuilt") type as a mass release in september. - No announced date, but they have displayed prototypes for the 3rd ("Heavy armored") version of the Dirfinge, which features slightly different body details and removable heavy armor.

dude I want the third version so bad! it just looks so awesome! I know. It makes me really want to cancel my pre-order for the 2nd version and just wait for it In the manga it's a limited presence (like all of the Dirfinge variations - they even make fun of how much equipment they keep loading onto the mech in the manga itself: "don't you think we've blown too much of our budget outfitting this thing?"), but it's pretty awesome. It's a total juggernaut, even down to completely obliterating an enemy by simply running straight through it and demolishing it with sheer mass and inertia.

The first OVA is okay - it's maybe the first 1 and a half volumes of the manga. You don't really get into any of the good stuff in it, though.

I really do like the look of this figure. I also have the Dirfinge/Delfing model kit by Kotobukiya, which I haven't assembled yet(I've got several model kits on my backlog to build first). I like the concept of the design and have been enjoying the manga so far. I've always liked the idea of combining giant robots with melee weaponry.

i got the fig and its awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee all abs except for the makeshift cloth parts great fig and loads of articulation. Has some very interesting joint mechanisms that are cool but i dont think they are very necessary at all. The looks so complex for simple thing like double jointed knees have some crazy designs, they work but i think they add to the cost of the figure.
