Long ago, Asura was a revered general of a race of gods fighting against an enemy known as the Gohma. One day, Asura returns home from war with his friend Yasha to the embrace of his wife Durga and his daughter Mithra. When he was summoned to the Emperor's throne, Asura finds in horror that the Emperor has been murdered and he has been accused of the crime. After escaping imperial forces, Asura rushes home to protect his family only to find his beloved Durga dead and Mithra kidnapped. In his rage, Asura pursues his former allies who have Mithra contained in a glass capsule. As Asura charges to save his child, Asura is repulsed by the god Deus, who reveals that he killed the Emperor so he can bring about what he calls "The Great Rebirth". Weakened by Deus' attacks, Asura is dropped over the edge of the platform and falls to Earth while swearing to exact his vengeance on the gods.
12,000 years later Asura is awakened from hibernation by the prayers of a young girl in the mountains. After saving the girl from a pack of ape-like creatures, Asura ventures through the world battling the forces of the gods as he fights to save Mithra from the Seven Deities, his former allies who now rule Heaven and have been using Mithra's powers to amplify their own. Along his journey, Asura will combat Heaven's soldiers, ferocious wild life, giant battleships, and other powerful foes. It's also made known that Asura's former friend Yasha will eventually see the injustice in the deities' ways and attempt to stop their cause.

I just tried the demo and it was pretty great. Even more so considering it basically consists of QTE and a little bit of...uh...Afterburner, I guess. It definitely seems to exceed its parts.

Ha! Yeah, it totally reminded me of Afterburner in some places. The whole vibe was pretty epic though. I didn't play the stage 11 part of the demo though just because I didn't want to spoil anything.

Ehhhh. I really didn't like it that much. Chapter 11 at least makes it seem like more of a "game", as it's an actual person vs. person combat scenario and you can move in full 360, but the control seems loose and lacks the tight responsiveness of a proper action game, while the quick time event focused stuff just makes it feel like the game is taking away your control of all the good parts and leaving you with all the mundane shooty-shooty and occasional punchy-punchy.
