Hey guys, just a few questions about which G1 Prime should I get. Now, I know what you're going to say. "The best G1 Prime would be the Masterpiece of course". True, but it's a giant compared to my Voyager and Deluxe-class transformers and other 13-16 cm figures and too expensive to get. The original G1 Prime is very popular considering it being the original, but I don't like how inaccurate it looks compared to the cartoon look. That leaves me with three possible choices. The Robot Masters Prime The Classics Prime And this "Ultimate Battle" Prime Which one of them do you suggest for me to get? And what are the goods and bads of each?

I'd go with the Classics one and preferably the Japanese version which looks better IMHO. The Robot Masters and Ultimate Battle Prime really aren't that great. I just received the IGear mini Prime today and if your willing to spend the money then I'd get that but if your on a budget I'd go Classics all the way.

Out of the 3 you have listed, Classics is the one to get. Do not bother witht he Ultimate Battle Prime at all. I consider it to be a pretty poor figure. I did not get into the Robot Masters line so I cannot comment on it but I do know the Classics Prime is an excellent figure.

I didn't see the takara THS-02 Optimus Prime on you list. If you want anime accurate with lot of accessories, hands and trailers, stands and such, that one is pretty good. Transformation to truck mode is also challenging. The only downfall on this version is the size and that the truck modes isn't as nice looking. Do a web search on that one. But since you mentioned voyager and deluxe figures, I am willing to bet that you are more interested in the current Classics/Universe/Generation/Henkei/United line. If that's the case, get the Classics Optimus Prime. Also, there are lots of 3rd party add ons for it.

If you want a G1 version of Prime that has a cartoon look try to track down the Music Label version: or buy a regular G1 figure or reissue and buy the upgrade kit. Or buy both, who'll stop you (aside from maybe your wallet)? Emerje

Well, he's complaining about price... so hunting down a G1 when it isn't a currently produced reissue would be... difficult. And compared to the others for the price... damn, it's pretty expensive. When you were little and playing with bots, the average Autobot was a good size and Optimus Prime was enormous. But as a grown-up, you realize G1 Optimus Prime was absolutely tiny.
As far as something that's fun to fiddle around with and not be afraid to break, I love the Classics design. It's surprisingly solid considering it has zero die-cast. And despite being so chunky, it's amazing how poseable it can be.

So it seems the majority agrees on the Classics figure.
I wouldn't mind get it, but the one thing I don't like about are those extra panels on the arms. Is it possible to remove them of the arms?
I also heard there's a Third-Party-made trailer for it. Is it made by FansProject?

FP also makes a power up set that give it the look of a power master prime. It was made to be Ultra Magnus, but it stll looks good as PM Prime. Not Powermaster Prime, but Powered Convoy from Diaclone, the figure that would become Ultra Magnus in Transformers. Emerje

True, the set was intended to be based off the original Diaclone figure. However, many TF collectors have subsisted this as a Power Master Prime since that is the figure he most closely resembles in the TF universe.
I have one and I all did was replace the face plate, the 2 missile launchers and the gun - it makes a pretty decent PM Prime. Not Perfect, but no Classic reissue is a perfect match for its G1 counterpart.

Sure, your figure you can do what you want with it, I'm just pointing out that officially it's meant to be Powered Convoy. For me he'd need more red and less blue to work as PM Prime, but more than anything he'd need to retain the Prime chest. I'm actually shocked that we've never had a PM Prime or God Ginrai conversion kit for Classics Prime. There was an upgrade kit made many years ago for the actual G1 figure and it looked great completed, but it required some work and wasn't too popular (BBTS put it on clearance!). Supposedly Crazy Devi has something in the works, we'll see. Emerje

I'm thinking of getting that Music Label Prime in G1 colors and then the upgrade kit, I figure that will be as close to a cartoon accurate G1 toy you can get. Plus the Music Label Primes can do something every other G1 Prime can't, it can turn it's head lol.

It's a Masterpiece design in a ((slightly larger)) Voyager-class size. ((I wander if I can attach the trailer of my Mighty Haulers 1:32 truck model to it))

Congrats, that's a great figure I have the second run version plus the Ultra Magnus version too which was the only way to get the cartoon heads plus there is a transformable trailer for Ultra Magnus coming soon. I was actually thinking of the Music Label Prime for myself since I want on old school G1 toy of Prime to go along with my mini Primes and 4 MP Primes. Attachments:

I totally read your first post, and i read THIS as your main concern for MP Prime : "True, but it's a giant compared to my Voyager and Deluxe-class transformers and other 13-16 cm figures and too expensive to get." TOO EXPENSIVE. I have no further opinion.
