Hello, new to collecting vintage toys, starting back in June, mostly items from late 70's and early 80's. And of all the things I have collected thus far, nothing is as much liked by me as much as the Godaikin robots. I love all the Asian robots, Popy, Dx, Bullmark, Soul of Chogokin, Shogun warrior, you name it, I have tracked it on ebay....
I have already added 20 great g1's and Godaikins, and have only been on the robot kick since late summer, here is list below.... 1. All five complete g1 dinobots, with Diaclone Grimlock, all nice condition. I also have all 7 nice complete insection bots, the three smaller ones (Kickback, Bombshell, and Shrapnal), and all the deluxe ones as well, Ransack, Venom, Chopshop, and Barrage. Rounding out my g1 collection is Soundwave and Buzzsaw.... 2. Godaikins-Large Laserion, small Dynaman, Daidenjin, Sun Vulcan, Guardian mold Trans jets Mazinga Z, and 2008 Soul of Chogokin Tetsujin 28 gx-44....
I have two reviews I did on youtube, for complete collection before getting Sun Vulcan, and single review of Sun Vulcan after acquiring him of-course....
Wishlist-Deluxe Tet 28 (who's list is he not on), Daimos, Daltanias, Voltes V, Daitetsujin and why not Combattra as well....
I am attempting to add all the American Bandai Godaikins which are pictured on the 84 color pamplet, goodluck with that eh, but I am well on my way. I have Bioman- and Biojet from Australia on way, and they are both missing missiles and torpedoes....
If anyone can help me with this, much appreciated. I have many extra Godaikin missiles already, and hoping they are pretty much Universal, so perhaps adding one from parts lot or something....

Welcome to the site! It sounds like you are well on your way with a great collection! So how did you learn about these toys? Why are you interested in them - do you remember them from your childhood? BTW, there is a board member who has managed to collect ALMOST every Godaikin released toy in box. Hopefully he can post some pics of his collection to inspire you. (hint hint)

Hey thanks KB, I actually only had Voltron 1 and 3 as a kid (36 born in 74), the matchbox version. I had some g1's and my grandfather actually bought me some great items from flea market, like Micronaults, the small 3 inch Shogun warriors, and that is really the only memories I have of these robots....
I had many G.I joes, and Star Wars like most kids, and when I got back into vintage collecting, I started with many items like Sci fi stuff, as I also have complete 1982 Tron moc set with yellow Tron cycle in box, and I have an entire kitchen table full of G.I joe vehicles, Condors, Night Ravens, all complete, really ridiculous how much stuff I have added already. Including many mint Black hole mego items, like 1979 Maxi-million magnetic gigi from italy, and other moc items, basically everything but the humans, and the impossible to find Humanoid and Old Bob. I even have all three of the Milton Bradley electronic Starbirds from 78/79, all complete with boxes, and the ultra rare Black Intruder. neat electronic tech for 79.....
Really amazing the long lost memories which resurface each time I stumble onto something I barely remember from childhood in an ebay auction for example....

By the way, I don't recall the name of the robot you have pictured in your profile KB, but I know Bomber is in his title, love that particular one, with the unique head cross face design....

Big Dai X from X-Bomber. I was about to snap a shot of several of these lined up in front of each other since I finally got repro parts for my large one (Blitzkrieg Combo set). Maybe I'll try to get that done tonight.

I don't know if it is o.k. to post you tube videos here, but I don't see why it would matter as long as the material is on subject to the category....
Godaikin collection review....
Sun Vulcan review....

Really amazing the long lost memories which resurface each time I stumble onto something I barely remember from childhood in an ebay auction for example.... So true! I am so jealous of your Tron collection - I always wanted to pick these up but didn't want to branch out too far from my main focus. Can you throw up some pics of these? Medicom released some large-scale vinyls from Tron, and I've been dying to get these also! One day...

Thanks Cholocarwash, great site here you suggested. I am an ice hockey house league goalie as well, and I am member on the goalie V bulletin board, and it is setup identical to this site, very user friendly IMO. I imagine now there is a discussion board for any hobby these days. I probably could find one for under water basket weavers with a quick google search....

Welcome. I see kingboy is giving a nudge, LOL. Here is a quick posting of an older photo of my collection. You'll see the boxes here: www.robot-japan.com/category/godaikin.htmlAfter the summit I think there will be more photos to share.

Welcome, I've been doing the same thing. I found some old 70's toys I had gotten (born in '67) and started buying more... While I found Microman/Micronauts, and Popy robots from the 70's, I'm only buying loose 70's and early 80's Popy and Shogun Warrior robots. I'm up around 20 right now, looking for a few more, and then I have another idea I want to pursue... I'm interested in creating a cool battle scene/diorama but have not decided what I will use for the content (robots yes).

Wow, That is a great Godaikin collection, and info, thanks....
On the subject of the Shogun warriors, I do have a very faint memory from 78 (I was 4), and I confirmed it by asking my mother, but i had one of the large Godzilla's with the fire strip that came out the mouth, and the firing fists, as well as a large Mazinga Z vinyl 24 inch. Man I thought those foam wrist missiles were the coolest thing I had seen yet on Earth up to that time, lol....

Thanks Eric, that article above really shed a lot of light on some questions I had about the origins of the these great die-cast toys.... One interesting section, was about the release of the Feb 1974 5 inch Mazinger Z (I was born one month later in March of 74) with the shooting fists which was what all these copy cat companies tried to replicate for years to come. I saw this exact Mazinger Z on ebay below for nearly 5000 grand. Thought to myself, that is a bit steep, tad bit out of my budget for a five inch robot, lmao..... cgi.ebay.com/70s-popy-chogokin-MAZINGER-Z-first-ver-box-bandai-/290496299114?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43a2edc06a#ht_500wt_949Obviously I knew he was older from early 70's compared to these others from early 80's, and like all vintage collectibles, the older it is, and the better the condition (being ultra rare never hurts), obviously the higher the price, but come on 5000 grand. like the guy on Pawn stars always says, just because someone is asking that amount, does not mean it is anywhere worth that amount....

Also, FYI, EVERY single Godaikin piece you are looking for can be found in that original link to the Popy Chogokin data file with the exception of Voltes and Combattler as they were released as Popynica (see popynica section).
