Got a nice 1984 Godaikin Daimos....

So the title says it all, I think I lucked out perhaps on this new edition....

I have watched a review on the Soul of Chogokin Daimos, and I personally like the color patterns much more on the 1984 Godaikin version, and I think his face, with the blue and black is one of the better looking robot faces out there IMO....

About a week ago, a fellow listed 7 or 8 Godaikins on ebay, including a Dat 17, (which started at 350 an sold for 150), then a Daimos which was complete near mint and only a rip across the face an some minor crease wear and a box with color fading issues, which started at 550 dollars and a best offer option. Next day 450, and firm no offers. Next day 400 best offer. So I thought why not offer 300. I had just seen a mint Daimos in real nice perfect box go for I think it was 700, so I thought this piece is worth 300, and perhaps my only chance to get a quote un-quote "bigger name robot", I am new to this hobby so forgive my ignorance if that is not accurate description of Daimos. Anyhow I got it, did a little 12 minute video review of it, which I will spare you guys as I am sure you all have seen plenty of images an video of Daimos, and it turned out to be very nice IMO. One small paint chip the size of a tiny pin head around chest section where the yellow piece attaches., and he was not missing even one stinkin missile, and I am sure as many of you have learned from Ebay purchases, that can't be taken for granite, lol....

He had a nice complete Goggle V which I really wanted to make a run at as well, but I never bight off more than I can chew so to speak, and when it came down to 300 with buy it now on it, I knew it was a not going to last long, and it lasted about 2 days before someone snipped it at 250. Oh well, like anything another will come down the road at a time when I can afford it....

One last thing, I glued that rip perfectly, and now you have to look close to see it, and it displays much better. Perhaps this is bad idea on my part and it decreases overall value, but I don't care, it makes me happy and is more structurally sound, so it just seems to make sense, esp since no glue leaked onto cover and face....

Hey, I'm late to say welcome aboard R-J!
Good job on the Daimos. I've been slow on watching those auctions lately, but you got a good deal for your offer on the boxed one. The Goggle Vs are more common, and go for less than Daimos, but still a very cool toy. Plenty more will come along for you to get.
Never get too stressed about hitting high BINs for commonly seen toys, as another collector or yardsaler will always pull something out of the woodwork to put on ebay. Not many items that you have to worry that you "missed" it. But taking advantage of the Best Offer feature was a good move.

Go ahead and link the video review I'd say. Many have NOT seen the toy in person, and even when we have it, it's lot's of fun to see what points on a toy someone else focuses in on, and why they like or dislike stuff about it.

Oh, and totally O.T., but cool to see yet another board member from TN. I'm originally from Paris TN in the flat western half, and several members here are from the Knoxville area I believe. Have to have a TN/KY Southern RJ Summit now, lol!

That sounds like a good purchase. Daimos prices have really been high lately. Congrats. On the other hand, the Goggle Vs have never been that popular, as Jonathan mentioned. I also see a ton of Gardians lately for real cheap. Too bad I don't have money.

Wow, that is great to hear there are other robot collectors in T.N., I actually thought perhaps I may have been the only one in entire state, lol....

My girlfriends father lives in Paris T.N., so I know it well, about an hour an half northeast of Memphis. I live in Lenoir city, which is just 30 minutes west of Knoxville, so I am sure we could all meet up sometime. It would be great to meet some other collectors. My father collects antique fishing lures of all things, and him and all those guys meet up annually in Gatlinburg for a convention, and I have never been to anything like that. It would be real great experience to talk to people who have been collecting for many years, see all the items, etc....

I did a poor job on that review IMO. I should have mentioned the missile port on the front of the truck cab, and also showed the little compartment on bottom of feet, or back of truck, designed for the small plastic cars, and I also should have placed the individual blades in fist slots which are perpendicular to the back of the fists, so it appears the blades are coming out of his wrist, kinda like the terminator T-1000 the liquid medal model....

Worried about keeping it short of 15 minutes, so no editing is required for you tube uploading....

I do have few myself, but seriously, the nicest one I've got is the latest one because it has came out from its wholesale box.
There is a seller on ebay was selling few Godaikin toys, and I did got lucky to score 2 from him.

I would not be surprised Godaikin if that is the seller who I got my mint small Dynaman from for 115. I have seen them list 3 Voltes V mint in box un-removed, and they all went anywhere from 1450 to 1650. He had a Voltes just listed for 2000 buy it now and best offer option, and it lasted for 2 days before selling for 1450. It sounds like you got the Daimos I was watching before finding the one I purchased as well, as it went for that price just over 700....

Is there name 1,2,3 somthin, with the cool robot and rocket artwork in the picture section of their auctions? Either way, they have listed a bunch of mint Godaikins from an "Estate sale", looks like all from that stock may be all but gone now....

Ha, I watched those, and was kicking myself for not finding out which antique store those were coming from, as the seller is less than an hr. away from me. Ebay ID Pg123. Beautiful mint stuff. I just couldn't make a move the weeks those were going. I'd love to upgrade a few of my sets. Glad someone here got some. Price will always be a premium for the top 5% of MIB stuff, but worth it, if kept that way, will keep value.

I don't find it necessary for my whole collection, but it sure is nice feeling having some pieces knowing they are new old store stock and you're the first kid to get them, Lol.
