I just came across my 2 very first Clover robots and am thinking they are worth a bit more than I picked them up for. The first one I have is a Tryder G7. I found the phrase "Henkei Gattai Set" on the toyboxdx website and found the right pictures. I'm temporarily using the photos off their website until I get my own photos up. But they are all exactly the same. Front of box: Back of box: The Tryder unfortunately has a few broken parts. One of the blue missiles is missing the piece that clicks into the launcher. The Yellow / Silver top of the staff is missing the same piece so it can't be attached to the blue staff, and finally one of the silver missiles is missing the same piece. Otherwise everything is in really good condition including the box (a little wear, but not significant). Next up is the Gundam Super Combination DX Gattai Set - art box. This one is in better condition as nothing is broken, the only thing missing is one of the four little missiles. The box is in good condition and has the window insert as well. Here's some photos from the toyboxdx site, again I'll post actual later. Front of Box: www.toyboxdx.com/datafiles/data/clover/images/gundamDXart_box.jpg [/img] Can anyone help me determine the value of these robots? Thanks guys!

No help!?! How about help finding another source of information. I've looked on ebay, found the Tryder G7 at $880, but that one is in better condition. And the Gundam, I've only found the regular version, not the Super Combo with Art Box. Any help or leads would be appreciated.

-just saw this. Feel free to private message me.
The broken parts are killers for value. But if the rest of the toy is in excellent condition it may not matter as much; people may use your box to complete the set. Pictures will greatly help.
I happen to like that Gundam box rendition, so box condition will matter to me as well as other collectors.
In general we can't/I can't evaluate the prices without pictures. In general each would sell from $210 to $800 or so....so you can see the giant fluctuation in price. Condition and completeness matter. Feel free to email me directly at admin @ robot-japan.com (without the spaces).
Best Regards, Ed

LOL. Well, now at least its a modest 2:1. Nice pieces! What are you looking to do with them? Just learn more about them or sell them? I know someone looking for that Gundam.

It certainly seems like there's more interest in the Gundam than the Tryder out there. The Gundam is damn sweet and is in pretty good condition considering its age (I’m guessing 1979??). I'll be honest, like many of you (excuse the assumption) I'm a huge nerd (excuse the generalization) so the thought of giving up a sweet ass robot brings a host of emotional barriers. This is my first entry into the vintage robot world so mainly at this point I'd really like to learn more about what I have and what they are worth so I can treat them appropriately. The Tryder isn't as cool to me and because it's not near-mint like the Gundam I'd be more interested in selling it to consolidate my collection to just the coolest one. A bit of honesty here: I'm no gundam fan and never heard of tryder before. I grew up with Voltron and am more of a Evangellion, Transformers (they're getting pretty lame with all these movies as of recently), and etc. fan. There's just no denying the "cool factor" of these toys though, I mean holey crap these things are made WAY better than 99% of the crap made in china these days. Long story short it's more a story of appreciation than love with these particular bots. If anyone has ever purchased one of these guys in the past I'd love to learn more about it! Thanks everyone.

Well, that is good to hear. I was not sure of your intentions here. We often get new members asking about value, only to disappear and list them on ebay, never to be heard from again. And that is fine, but we are always more appreciative of those who come to stay and have an actual interest in this hobby. I would recommend keeping them both! We just talked about these in this thread: robotjapan.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Popychogokin&action=display&thread=17751Read through it and you will see our interest in both of these toys! Most people enter the hobby with much simpler toys. You jumped in with two of the most coveted! If you are willing to learn more, peruse the older threads on these forums and our website (the articles and especially the gallery): www.robot-japan.com/There are also plenty of other great resources on the web. I can provide links if you are interested. Of course, you can always PM me or any other member or administrator on these boards if ever you have a question that you want to ask privately. Welcome!

And yes, you hit the nail on the head - they don't make them like they used to! The vintage toys are top notch in terms of engineering and quality. Once you enter this realm, there is no turning back! Of course, many of the newer releases are also of great quality and design - check out some Soul of Chogokin toys, for example. So... where did you happen to come across such nice toys?

Thanks for all your help so far. I don't think I'll be able to part with the Gundam, he's just too awesome. This all gets me very excited to keep looking and see what else I can find out there. I'd love to find a really big robot to put on display. Something really cool! Since my wife stayed up all night playing with the Tryder and Gundam when I got them I assume a bad-ass robot would add an acceptable charm to our ambiance. Maybe I'll start another thread to get some input on that one. Not this "What's it worth" thread that obviously has it's own connotations. Thanks KingboyD!
