The Strike Gundam seems to be a natural choice for the RG line after the classics of the RX-78-2 and Char's custom Zaku II. SEED seems popular enough in Japan to warrant a sequel TV show and numerous spin offs as well as extensive effort by Bandai in making many HG, NG, and MG model kits for the series.
The Strike's design also lends itself well to the RG concept, especially if Bandai were to choose to use the Evolve version of the MS. From the silhouette, the shoulder looks more like the Evolve version rather than the anime accurate original version of the design.
I'm sure Bandai will use the RG Strike as the basis for retools of the sculpt and recolours. We all know how much Bandai loves to re-use existing figure and model kit sculpts!

I love the RG line. Glad they seem to be committed (for now at least) to adding more MS to the line. I still have yet to build my RX 78-2 or even pick up the RG Zaku IIs.
I would more than likely get this version of the Aile Strike Gundam if it looks like the PG/Evolve version. What worries me is that this is going to turn into a monster effort by Bandai to dedicate this new line to nothing but Gundam SEED and SEED Destiny suits. The floodgates are probably opening. Would just seem a waste to me with all the MS designs out there. Not trying to offend SEED fans at all. Just saying. Besides, I'm sure the next two or three releases will be from that series.
Having said that, I'd be totally down for the Red/Blue Frame Astray MS. The Star Gazer designs would be cool too!

I can see Bandai milking the base RG Strike mold for Strike variations and designs like the Astray Frames but I don't see much potential in most SEED designs for the RG line. The Strike has a design that looks good for RG since it has mechanical detail that fits well with the RG concept(mini MG and PG design elements). Other than that, the other SEED MS designs that I recall are all too slick and relatively simplified to do well in RG format.
The only other SEED designs for RG that I think would make sense are Aegis, Infinite Justice, Freedom, Strike Freedom, and Destiny.
Since the RG line seems to be scheduled for bi annual release, I'm inclined to think that Bandai would only stick to the most popular MS designs at this point.

point is that any MS can be made highly tenchical and mechanical if they want it to. Look at all the custom kits that neograde and others produce!? they make some plane kits very detailed. but you are more than likely right that they will stick to the more commonly known mechs.

Oh definitely, any MS design can be made into more detailed variations. The Zaku II and RX-78-2 are quite basic if one refers to the original animation model sheets.

My friend that owns a gunpla store told me that the Aile Strike RG promises to be a scaledown version of the PG.
RG, RX-78-2 was made to mimick the 1:1 model. casted in 3 shades of white, 2 shades of red and 2 shades of blue. But I still think a proper paint job is in order.

I have the GFFN Strike Gundam figure, which uses the anime accurate design rather than the Evolve version used for the PG Strike, and I can't wait to see how it compares to the RG version of the Strike.
Visually, the RG RX-78-2 is derived from the 1:1 statue. However, in terms of the model kit design and engineering, the RG RX-78-2 derives elements from the PG, MG RX-78-2 model kits as well as the Super HCM Pro RX-78-2 action figure(for example, the sliding armour on the thighs and adjustable hip/pelvis joints on the RG model comes from the Super HCM Pro RX-78-2).

I've built the RG RX-78-2 and I think it's an overall successful effort by Bandai when I consider their goal of basically bringing MG and PG design and engineering elements into the 1:144 scale of gunpla.
There are issues, though, such as lack of stability in some joints such as the front skirt armour pieces and the joints of the fingers. However, these issues that I see are both few and far outweighed by the solid design of the RG RX-78-2 in every other part of the model. The range of articulation is very impressive as well.
I haven't built the RG Zaku II Char Custom model yet but I've read and heard that it has similar issues with its finger joints and skirt armour joints.
Hopefully, the RG Strike's design will show that these joint issues have been resolved.

Is the RG 1/144 Scale is the same size as the HG 1/144 Scale?

Is the RG 1/144 Scale is the same size as the HG 1/144 Scale? Orbs, the RG and MG are the same size, but the quality of the model, detail and the inner frame, the fact that the RG even has one is far superior for about the same price. So basically you are getting a the PG in a smaller model. It has even been claimed that painting a RG is really optional- again, it is molded in 3 shades of white, 2 shades of blue and red. I don't like the look of plastic, so I paint all my models regardless. When I get my RG done, I will shoot it with my MG 30th Anniversary and you will easy spot the difference.

wow it looks nice, it is a shame all the HGUC 1/144 could not go down this route, clearly bandai now has the technology to produce it.
