Is the RG 1/144 Scale is the same size as the HG 1/144 Scale? Orbs, the RG and MG are the same size, but the quality of the model, detail and the inner frame, the fact that the RG even has one is far superior for about the same price. So basically you are getting a the PG in a smaller model. It has even been claimed that painting a RG is really optional- again, it is molded in 3 shades of white, 2 shades of blue and red. I don't like the look of plastic, so I paint all my models regardless. When I get my RG done, I will shoot it with my MG 30th Anniversary and you will easy spot the difference. COOL!! Thanks for the info 00silvergt ;D

hmm recca i thought you werent a fan of the seed figures? change of heart? Haha! Well, MMJ, I will say that as a Gunpla and Gundam enthusiast, I'm a fan of the RG line. I think it's awesome that Bandai can pack so much detail in scale 1/144. My "beef" with Gunpla primarily lies with Bandai's PG releases of late. However, I do realize that Bandai needs to maintain a rate of revenue. So if making a few PG SEED D kits is going to keep them churning out more stuff, I can't help but be supportive in their efforts though other properties more my taste. In terms of my enthusiasm for the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED property, you'd be largely correct. More specifically, I'm not a fan of the story/concepts or designs (character or mecha) for SEED Destiny. I'm just fickle that way. Don't ask! Haha! I think I also just got sick of seeing Hisashi Hirai's character style. Didn't work for me with Gundam as much as shows like S-CRY-ed and Ryvius. Now there are a few mecha from the SEED universe that I do like. Primarily the Aile Strike Gundam. Can't really go wrong with this imo. I also do like the Astray's and the mecha from Stargazer. Also those side stories are, to me, more interesting than both TV shows. I know, I know. Such a long explanation. I told ya. I'm just fickle as an anime/mecha fan.

I dunno I never seen seed but seems like the black sheep of the gundam verse though apparently very popular in Japan. I beleive seed was the last series dipicted here in the US and judging by the amount of crap it gets in most american forums I have come to beleive it was ill recieved. I have several kits and figures from the seed era and I like them though I can see the strike being reused in many of the desings..... still I do like a lot of those designs and the revamped zakus. But what do I know I am just a fan of mecha I dont care too much for if the anime was good ro not just purely for the asthetics of it.
dont worry about long explinations I rather enjoy it.

Yeah, I definitely feel you in terms of aesthetics. I guess that's precisely why I dig Aile Strike so much. Though the show left little for me to desire, the design for it is one of my faves. Especially the detailed up version. And the fact that this RG version takes cues from the PG Strike...that's a bonus! Looking forward to this kit more every time I see it. I guess in terms of enjoying mecha for it's own sake....I'd have to point to myself in terms of the Super Robot genre. I love the classic style 'bots like Mazinger, Voltes V, Getter Robo, etc, but I've yet to finish any of the series. Although the recent animations for Getter and Shin Getter were/are pretty dope (Masinkaiser too!). I mean, I'd love to see the shows at some point, but I'm in no real hurry. I can still enjoy the designs without having seen them in animation form. Although, I'm sure my appreciation would be greatly enhanced. I think with SEED and SEED D, aesthetics even more so than story is what keeps me from enjoying the more popular MS in that series. I.E. Strike Freedom, Freedom, Destiny, Impulse. Just not my thing I 'spose. But I can appreciate why mecha fans dig them. Oh yeah, didn't see this posted up in this topic yet, but in case folks hadn't done so....RG Aile Strike Gundam is up for preorder at your fave hobby shops. R10, HLJ, Amiami. www.amiami.jp/shop/?set=english&vgForm=ProductInfo&sku=TOY-GDM-1355&template=default/product/e_display.htmlGo get it.

Hi Guys, I'm new to building Gundam kits, but I bought the first two RG kits as they looked pretty cool. Quick questions:
1. Do these guys need to be painted to look good? I hope not! 2. I saw a tutorial online and they were spraying the completed figure with a matte finish. Why do they need to do that?
Thanks in advance guys!

spraying it with a matte finish seals the details in such as decals and panel lines to make it harder fro those to be damaged and more importantly it gets rid of the shininess of the plastic and makes it look more like a finished kit then a toy

Thanks Zeomare. That makes sense, is there a particular brand of matte finish that Gunpla fans use the most?

Hi, not really i use standard issue auto clear matte right from the can in light multiple sprays (spray lightly let dry and add another coat) from a few different companies like Color Palace and Krylon. i have had alot of success this way and it looks the same as when i used to use the airbrush. you actually get more in the can for cheaper then the little airbrush bottles and the quality is the same, plus then clean up is much simpler.

Has anyone here built this yet? I just build the RG RX-78-2 this weekend, and I am still in awe with how good it looks. The details are really amazing. 20 hours in, just have the core fighter left to build. I will get this Aile Strike and the Zaku because I really like these. My only dislike is that some of the parts are really small and there is more than a couple times where I almost lost a piece.
