A question for you Generation 1 Transformer experts: Did the G1 Megatron come with this particular decal(seen in image below) already applied by the factory? I've seen a few on Ebay where the person said they were the original owner and never applied any decals and none of the decals on the sticker sheet are removed, however this decal is clearly applied. I'm wondering if this decal was applied at the factory, or if it wasn't and it shouldn't be there if the item is truly in original condition. Thanks in advance for you help! -Chris

I'm not 100% sure but I think they were factory applied because I remember having to put on the Decepticon symbol sticker over it. The problem with it though is that over time they start to peel off due to age. If that's the case you could just go to www.reprolabels.com and get perfect replacements.

Chen's correct. It was a factory applied decal. And yes, reprolabels.com replacements include factory applied decals as well.

I know that the label that goes on his chest that is similar to this one is not a factory applied label because I've seen numerous AFA graded Megatrons sealed in their original boxes were you can clearly see that no label is applied to his chest through the clear plastic in the box. However this is the back side of Megatron, the side you can't see without taking the item out of the box, so that's why I asked about this particular decal. It's very strange that they would apply this particular decal at the factory for several reasons. One, it's not covering anything(like a screw or something). Two, you can't see it while it's in the box. Three, they applied no other decals besides this one(and a rub sign), and there's one that's almost exactly the same that you place on Megatrons chest. Why would they place one on his back at the factory and not on his chest also? Four, they provide this very same decal on the decal sheet.
So that's why I was stumped by people's claims on Ebay. Thanks for your input so far. I look forward to a few more opinions if they're out there!

I really have to ask this, but it's REALLY OT: Is Megatron the same size as Gazelle's Megapistol, from Kaiyodo? That would make an...interesting...custom.

I'm no expert on the vintage stuff but I just noticed your megatron says Takara.. and not hasbro. Is this the japanese version?

The one in the picture isn't mine, it was just a photo I pulled off the net. Here's a picture I pulled off the net of the American version(again with the decal in question applied). You'll notice that it has both Hasbro and Takara written on it. The original photo I posted looks like it has the Hasbro stamp missing on it, so I'm wondering like you are if that's the Japanese version. It also has the copyright dates missing too. In any case, this is a side topic. I'm most interested in knowing about that decal. I'm hoping someone out there has a G1 Megatron in an untouched/original condition that's obviously not MISB that can answer the question about the decal. I don't believe that the decal was applied by the factory(as sellers on eBay claim) for reasons I've already stated, but I just want to verify this theory.
