Ok I feel like a idiot here for posting this. But looking for some advice how to pop in a tension type balljoint. I have a microman Iguana. typical takara ball joint.
It should pop in. But this sucker is tough. But I'm also a bit nervous to take hammer to it in case the plastic shatters. Any tips or tricks for some tough ball joints?

NO, DON'T HAMMER IT!!! omg, what on earth, you kids breakin yer toys again! ;D Just kidding. ;D It would help to see a pic of the problem, if possible. The first suggestion on my mind is the Hot Water treatment... ... pre-heat a bowl of water in the microwave until it reaches the point of boiling. Take the bowl out (be careful, it's HOT!!!) and dip the plastic part into the hot water for a few seconds until the plastic is barely soft. Then try to pop the ball into the socket with gentle pressure. If the ball won't go in, dip the parts a little longer. Since they're plastic, this idea should work. Any other folks wanna help with this one? Thanks!!! zozo-Magengar

I don't have the Microman Iguana (Iguanite?) and I have never seen these parts in person. Heating the socket with hot water sounds like a good idea but I wouldn't heat the ball. Have the parts been separated very long? That might cause the socket to shrink slightly. Can you use any of the pictures here to describe the problem? www.microforever.com/acromonster.htm www.microforever.com/

I dried tapping with it a rubber coated hammer. But I was too timid. I just tried tappingit.. but I was too nervous to hit hard. heating it sounds like a good idea! maybe I'lluse a blow dryer or something well here's the pic I have (sorry bad camera phone) need to dig up a proper camera lter

Ah, I see.
Ok you can stop tapping it now.
.........I said Stoo-OP! ;D
DaveZav's right... Don't heat the ball. Just heat the socket part. ...also, don't Concentrate the heat to one area; wave the heat source around but keep an eye on how long the heat is applied. Just do it for a few seconds, like 5 or 10 seconds. Count the seconds like "One 1000... Two-1000" and so forth counting in a steady rhythm, then try to fit the ball inside. Once the ball is in, let the part cool off so the socket settles back to its own strength and rigidity.
For the record, on Any toy or figure with socket joints, NEVER heat the ball part!
That's because the neck area attached to the ball will soften in the heat and the ball could melt off or break off. The neck is designed to add rigid support to the limb or connected part when it's posed in the socket. The ball is designed to allow the part to be pivoted for posing. The socket is designed to keep the parts attached, with just slight pressure on the ball so the posed toy can hold its pose. If the ball breaks off from its neck, kiss the toy useless and broken.
Hope this helps.

It's driving me crazy cause I thought it would snap in so easy. But the socket is so TIGHT!!!!!

I'd add in a lubricator like a bit of water. It will evaporate later and work . I'd say just a touch of soap will help too.
