Woke up this morning, looked around on eBay & saw this: cgi.ebay.com/Bandai-DX-Combattra-godaikin-popy-COMPLETE-comabttler-/350439514223?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5197d2a06fNow, I have some decent Old Skool JP Gokin Toy knowledge, but I am SOOOOOOO Confused w/ all the different variations of the vintage (not SOC) Popy & U.S. Godaikin Combattler/Combattra. Here's what I kinda do know: -US Versions were the Godaikin Blue Box & the Copper Box. -JP Versions, I know there are more than one, but isn't there like a mid-sized one or something? Japanese ?'s-Which is the Japanese original 1st release by Popy? -From my recollection isn't there a Combine Box or something like the Volt in Box? -Isn't there different variations like Voltes of different colored joints; Yellow vs. Red? -Is there a smaller version than the original DX Sized, Mid-Sized version right? Its smaller than the DX but Larger than a mini/ST. -What's up with this weird repro Gashapon set- Why? US Godaikin ?'s-From what I know the Blue Box is 1st Ver. and the Copper box is the 2nd ver., right? Are there any Joint Variations, yellow vs. red? -Did they ever make a Mid-Sized one? RJ Gods and Combattler Aficionados/Experts, PLEASE PLEASE HELP! I have been confused for a long time now...... Pics would also be much appreciated so I can see the variations!.... Thanks in Advance!!! ;D

This will be good. 1st-- Japanese BIG boxed "Combattler in Box" (which was in English on the box). The box has a millitary look to it with all the missiles and parts laid out in the photo art. 1976 as I recall 2nd, possibly co-release-- Single Japanese boxed toys. There was one toy per box & these are the common way to see Combattler. 3rd. Smaller "ST or Standard" sized Combattler toy. 4th. Shogun Warriors DX box set. 5th/co release Small Combattra Boxed toys like in Japan for the U.S. Shogun Warriors line. -1978 or so 6th Combattra Denzi Gattai (medium sized toy). 6B was a re-release of the Denzi Gattai toy 7th Godaikin Picture Art Box 1983 8th Godaikin Copper box (window) 1984 or so. Give or take

The variations of the DX are discussed somewheres here in an old thread. Mostly it's not the variation of elbow color, on the Combattler, but: Different sticker size, and fonts. Face paint variations Arm/fist attachment point has 2 styles, early flat "-" connector, vs. later "+" style fist connector Heel/ankle latch colors. Some blue, some white. Box background colors,...I'm fuzzy and tired on this one, but may be Popy individual boxes with both light green, and light blue backgrounds inside the silver border, similar to Voltes.
I know you asked for pics, and they're there, but I hope somebody drags em up again, since I gotta put that for next day , with more energy.lol. =D

I would say if you want a very nice Combattler V just get yourself a Godaikin Combattra.

-Thanks Ed & repairtechjon for the information it really helps.
-Yes Mr. Godaikin I have wanted one for a while now, but was so confused on all the variations. I really like the 1st edition Godaikin blue box, but those damn Japanese Popy Boxes (Combine Box) are so much more attractive to me - plus the fact that it is the original makes it more alluring.
BTW... Is the real name Combattra or Combattler V? Or is it just the Japanese name translated to English like Borutesu Faibu into Voltes V?

Good luck finding the Combine-In-Box. Those are very scarce, significantly more so than Voltes yellow elbow Japanese versions. Plus they have a price tag to match.

Combattra (Notice it is without the V) is the English or American renaming, like Voltes V, became Voltus V. This was made in the late 70's-early 80's Marvel Comic book Shogun Warriors. Combattler V is/was the robot's original name. Incidentally, in Romanji, it is romanized as Combattra, remember the Japanese do not end their words with a consonant, except for n. So Combattler V...is romanized as combattra (L, R, and D sounds are pretty much one and the same in Japanese as well.) very similar to the Borutesu in Voltes and Beruto in Belt. Perhaps, Mattel/Marvel, took the romanji and directly translated it to English?

Hey, thanks for all the info everyone. Now I am well educated in Combattra School of higher knowledge.
So as Ed mentioned, I saw this medium sized toy [edit by Ed. Indeed, it is the Denzi Gatti]
I didn't know it was a silver box, nice to know....or someone correct me if I am wrong. -B

That is the Denzi Gattai toy. It is much smaller than the deluxe version. Yes, its the 6th one Ed mentioned.
Also, please be aware that there is a policy of not posting live auctions. Thanks!

Yes, I totally agree Mr. BomberX, but if he wasn't so D@M* expensive I would have bought one buy now. I like my Super Robots to be MIB or close to that so I know its gonna cost a pretty, extra shiny penny..... -B
