As discussed elsewhere on this forum, I decided to pull something out of the (recent) archives to throw up here for discussion. Although not necessarily vintage, I think this fits better here than in any other forum on this site. Here is the U5 Mazinger Z Desktop Model. I hope to get my hands on the others in the series. Its essentially a static figure (i.e., no posibility), or statue, that is transparent and shows the inner circuitry of the robot. Its relatively large (I forget actual size right now - maybe 10 to 12 inches?). Check it out and let me know what you think: www.robot-japan.com/item/mazinger-z-desktop-model-by-unifive.html

Sick! Always dig these exposed clear figures, but never picked any of them up. You should post that over in the "clearly" thread at TBDX as well, if you did not already. Nice piece.

OMG, That is a Beautiful specimen!!! At first I thought you mentioned the old 5" Banpresto semi-transparent Mazinger statues, which I have (in storage with me, or at my mom's in P.R.). I've never seen this one before. Did they make this for other robots as well, or just the Mazinger? Thanks for digging this one up. zozo-Magengar

Wow! I've got one of those stached away in a crate. I even tried to sell it once a long time ago because the spelling of the word Mazinger was wrong (Mazzinger).

Did they make this for other robots as well, or just the Mazinger? Yep - as mentioned in the link, they also made a T28, Astroboy, and Gundam. Those are still on my wish list.
