Very cool. I like him more than Unicron, mainly because his planet mode is so interesting. That and I'm not really into Unicron's color scheme.
Don't know if you guys read the other posts in that thread, but apparently eBay pulls a lot of the Transformer prototypes from finishing being sold at auction. This probably explains what happened to that Swoop proto. Ebay must have some legal reasons for doing this?
I noticed he was comparing the Primus proto to a Starscream Supreme proto. That dude must have a lot of expendable cash.

Im gonna ask a stupid question. So Primus I take it is Unicron's counterpart? What was he? I think I missed the storyline somewhere.

Ebay is pulling TF protos eh? Interesting. I've heard a few rumors regarding Ebay's "crackdown": Rumor 1) Hasbro is in fact cracking down...I kind of doubt that since there are LOTS of Star Wars & GI Joe prototypes / test shots. In fact, the problems with leakage in those lines is much more rampant. Rumor 2) Disgruntled bidders tipping Ebay off to "Violations of copyright"...since these are done case-by-case it would make more sense. There are a lot of fans who hate the prototype collectors and sellers and may be taking that route. I really don't know how plausable that rumor would be... Rumor 3) Sellers tipping off Ebay annonymously themselves to avoid fees. This only seems to happen to a couple sellers habitually. Others seem to have no issue at all. I guess it's possible...I've been high bidder for a couple cancelled auctions (and I bought them off the seller afterwards) or it could be rival sellers who want to sell their own protos....It does seem to drive the price UP in the long run...

I think Hasbro is "tipping off" Ebay. It seems to me that Ebay woudn't care about copyright laws of products being sold unless it had some genuine legal ramifications, ie. "Hi we're Hasbro and we're going to sue you unless you pull this auction". My guess is that toy companies don't want pictorial releases or reviews of their products before they get the chance to give it an official release with professional photography and advertisement. Once a toy gets on the internet and gets the thorough review treatment, with bad photos and all, the cats out of the bag. Then it has to be a good toy to keep sales up. I doubt Primus will have sales problems, but still, it's better to have as much control over your products presentation as possible.
Of course this wouldn't explain Swoop, since he's been around for awhile, but technically it could possibly be argued that all prototypes belong to the toy company both physically and certainly from a copyright standpoint, because protos are never supposed to be sold to begin with. I suppose it could be argued that they are stolen property perhaps?

Im gonna ask a stupid question. So Primus I take it is Unicron's counterpart? What was he? I think I missed the storyline somewhere. To be totally accurate, Primus is the god and creator of all Transformers, the ancient antithesis and nemesis of Unicron, and appears in the latter issues of the rather nice 80's Transformers comics. In those, he's dormant, and represented as a huge mechanical face buried deep inside the planet. His awakening and subsequent scream alert Unicron to the existence of both him and Cybertron, and hilarity ensues. It's interesting to note that as far as I know, he's never been given a bodily form so to speak, as I'm not aware of him appearing anywhere else than in those comics. There was a recent (and wholeheartedly recommended by me) artbook by some Dreamwave artists, a "what if" full blown image of him, depicting him as the alt mode of Cybertron, graced two of its pages. It seems that this current incarnation pretty much takes from there. If anyone is aware of any other appearances from the big guys, I'd love to hear them.

i could almost swear that they showed him (somewhere between issue 70-80) in body form fighting Unicron, in a flashback/history.

If I remember correctly, it was represented as little more than a silhouette, much as Unicron himself in that scene. But I could be wrong. Anyone care to check?
