I thought this is a common issue with the Toynami release of the Alphas? I hear the Aoshima release doesn't have self-destructing hands anymore.

I'd heard the opposite - that because they're covered in paint, the Aoshima ones have even MORE problems with disintegration.

I have 3 Aoshimas, all in display and none of them has the disintegrating hands problem (might just be luck though).Anyway, all crumbling hands problems I've heard of where on the Toynami versions of the toy.

I have this with just one out of 4 of my Toynami Alphas.
Had this happen to the blue one as I tried to have it grasp its gun. I found some excess material on the piece with 3 figures. I trimmed it down before gluing the hand back together, and was careful enough not to loose any articulation....this was a few years ago, and its held up to this day...mind you I can't remember the last time I held my alphas.
Although never had the thumb break of on me.

I'm thinking of swapping out the hands with a 1/48 Legioss model kit's hands or possibly some sort of Gundam hands. Do you guys think the scale would work?

I think this might be one of your best options, if you care to preserve the transformation : www.hlj.com/product/WAVOP-152I wouldn't recommend using the 1/48 kit hands because they're really quite ugly and I'm not sure they'd fit inside the arm cavity

Thanks for the heads up! That product is such a godsend!! I just purchased a set. If they work, I will purchase additional sets for my other Alpha's. This is what I love about this forum. The quality of help & advice among fellow boardies!! Thanks again!!

Broken to death out of box... but its still a robot

If this indeed works, I'm ordering more sets and swapping out all the hands to my Alpha collection.

Ok, so the Wave F-Hands arrived in today's mail! So Chachipower, here's my follow-up as promised. Here's my observations: - They are 75% the size of the stock Alpha's hands
- They do not have the same wrist connection mechanism like the Alpha. They have a stick pole protruding from the base of the wrist.
- The articulation of the hands do not full close as expected. Even when closed the grip is not strong enough to hold any type of weapon like a gun, especially the Alpha rifle.
- The quality is not great. The upper half of the hand does not cleanly attach to the bottom half leaving a noticeable gap. With some scale modeling skills, this can be easily fixed but it will take some work.
Verdict: Because of the poor quality and only 3/4 of the size of the actual Alpha hands, I would not recommend this as a suitable replacement.
