Oh - these newest pics are SWEET!! Um? oh yeah - Galaxy Convoy's die-cast metal parts were his shoulders and lower legs. He also has some metal bits in his chest (and screws too). It's one of those "you had to see it for yourself" situations because until I got him, I was pretty unimpressed by other peoples' discriptions too. But given the photos of the prototype we've seen of the new G1 Convoy HBS, I'm already sold on the thing... *drool* Be prepared to be blown away some more then Ben... This proto shows diecast content. More pics at allspark.com.

pretty cool stuff.. although I wish when people take pictures of things.. they would put it beside something that was a bit more standardized or familiar to most people. LIke a ruler?? or Currency? like a quarter, or a $$ bill of sorts??

What scale is the HBS-2 Hybrid Style G1 Convoy in? It's around1/3 the size of MP-01 Convoy, right?

Well, yeah, something like that. If you look at that prototype photo that GDomino linked above you see it's the size of a typical cellular phone (non-flip-phone). That'd be about 3 inches give or take a bit...

So if MP Convoy was around 1/24 scale, would that make HBS-2 Convoy...1/72 scale?

I think chet is asking what the scale by the numbers is (btw, I wouldn't hestitate to say HBS are about the size of a 1/144-scaled Gundam). But what he means is that MP-1 was roughly a 1/24-scaled vehicle (if we compare against other non-Transformers model cars). In fact, all BT/Alternator molds are supposed to be 1/24 cars. MP1 is officially non-scale. In particular, Convoy wasn't an actual truck model (as far as I know; altho, he does resemble some real-life trucks). For the sake of arguement let's say he was 1/24. If that is so, then the photos circulating around the 'net would imply that yes, HBS are roughly 1/72 scale. When I put my HBS-01 next to my Macross valkyrie fighters, the cab area closely approximates the cockpit of the 1/72-scale VF-19A in my collection. However, we also know that Galaxy Convoy is supposed to be somewhat larger than G1 Convoy so.... boy, we could go all night on this topic. Is it really that important?

It's hard to say what scale the HBS Prime will be because there are no hard stats on how tall Prime is. I've seen him stated from being 20 feet tall to all the way to 60 feet so he varies. But your right that MP Prime is not officialy been stated as being 1/24, I guess people just go by his robot mode which "looks" right next to BT/Alt's although his truck mode is a little too small to be 1/24 scale.

Well...it's not THAT important, but it adds to the fun of displaying. I actually had the same idea as you for displaying it with my other approx. 1/72 scale toys like the Yamato VF-11B FP and the Bandai Labor in Action Ingram.

Cool! I'm amused to note that the Roller drone has more detailed paint app than his larger G1 original counterpart.
