FREEing Dynamic Change R Getter Robo Got a chance to open it, transform it (to Getter-1, so far), display it. I LIKE IT A LOT! I thought it would be similar in size to GX-74 but it's taller and bit bulkier. Articulation is decent, you get all the range of motion you could want, but the back kibble will prevent you from many poses without a stand. But you're not buying this toy for that reason. You're buying this toy for the transformation. Transformation is complex but not difficult. The manual sheet is very clear about which hinge is being adjusted. Once combined, Getter-1 is quite solid, not floppy at all. Some people might find the abundance of pegs and hinges quite unappealing but I don't think there is a way to make Getter's anime magic happen otherwise. There are some diecast parts (not a lot). Combined weight is about 190 grams. Kudos to Good Smile and FREEing for bringing us this transformable Getter with proper proportions. The Amazon deal made it even sweeter. Some comparison pics I took with GX-74

Happy Valentine's Day! Got some more time to play with this Getter, and did the combination for Getter-2 and Getter-3. I think they scale nicely with GX-74 although the aesthetics don't match. Getter-2 was a bit trickier than Getter-1, because the areas where they connect is a bit difficult to reach if you have big fingers, so once I learned how to do the combination, had to undo some sections so I can apply enough force to make the connections secure. Basically, the first time is somewhat awkward, but once you know how, subsequent times are easier. Getter-2 is tricky to stand, mostly due to the small feet and large amounts of back kibble. It uses the shoulders of Getter-1 as its hips. Getter-3 was very stable, but the final step connecting Bear to Eagle was frustrating. Surprisingly, it's the only one of the three forms that has some waist articulation. My main concern, this being a transforming toy, is whether the pegs will stay tight after many transformations. This obviously required a ton of creativity and engineering on the designers' part, and the parts count is quite high, with some tiny pins as hinges. This toy is not for everyone, especially those who are not good at complex transformations. However, it is very unique and something fans of Getter Robo will enjoy in their collection.
