i did NOT notice, i thot he was a transfer truck. but watching a rerun "Fallen" for the first time, the girl said "A flying talking firetruck?" and i went to my toy, and noticed he does have these blue light things on his roof of his cab...but i didn't think anything about it. he looks more like a Transfer Truck than a firetruck.... did the cartoon goof? RID is DEFINITELY a FT.
Cybertron Optimus: WHAT IS HE? Firetruck or Transfer truck?

Nah, I'm pretty sure it happened in Cybertron too. I remember him flying in truck mode and putting out a fire, can't remember which episode it was, could have been 9 or 10.

Oh, that's cool. I've been watching the Japanese subbed ones and have seen up to episode 38. I haven't really gotten into the North American version since I've gotten used too the Japanese voices. I will say it starts off pretty slow but gets going pretty good around episode 20 or so.

Actually, it may be more appropriate to say that Cybertron Op is a sort of "retrofitted" fire truck.
That is to say, if you look at the gun mounts on top (in truck mode), they have a crisscross pattern that might suggest a ladder design, but then they were converted to hold weapons.
Also, it might make sense that, at least at some point, the lights on top of the cab were for alerting people to its presense, ostensibly so they'll get out of the way (just like real firetrucks).
As it is, though, Cybertron Op's equipment is geared more towards destroying things, rather than keeping fires from destroying them.
It is kinda funny how some of the Cybertronians on Earth are trying really hard to fit in, while others don't seem to bother choosing a vehicle form that fits in very well. I mean, Landmine fits in well, and even Hotshot just looks like some funky custom sportscar. But you have to wonder why Op yells Hotshot about transforming in public when he's got those huge gunracks out in plain view all the time.

I have to say I find this thread funny, but then again I find many things with Cybertron to be funny, and entertaining in a strange sort of way. But it's reassuring to know that always vigilant OP takes the time to put out forest fires (as Smokey the Bear smiles down upon us). I've come to the realization that anytime there's purely Autobots storyline, it's like Mr. Roger's Neighborhood with robots. The Decepticons save the show. I just wish that I was vaguely interested in any of the Autobots doings. They just seem to lack anything compelling about them. But everytime I start to get down on Cybertron, Scourge and Starscream save the day.
