again all I can say is that people outside this hobby have no clue and dont care. The closest I came was showing someone an American sold Kamen rider vs a SIC kamen rider. They definitely noted the difference between the two but still saw them as toys..... just one was a higher end toy vs the other.

What I am more upset is with people within the same vein criticizing others. Model builder ridicule toy collectors, toy collectors pass judgment on dolphies..... it just hypocrisy at its dumbest. Yeah, you're right. I think this was one of main points of the article, this and the point that categories and titles don't matter, it's all in the same vein. No matter how you want to color it, to me our hobby is in essence toy based. The very origins of it were toys and cartoons intended for youth. For me this is perfectly fabulous, but for some of us it seems to carry an uncomfortable insinuation of immaturity. I just don' think it matters. If some people don't recognize the level of craft, design, and engineering that goes into these products that we buy and enjoy, that's their weakness, not mine. The only thing that makes me slap my head on occasion is when people seem compelled to create a pecking order, to show how cool or knowledgeable they are by dominating their persona or viewpoint by demeaning others, as if we do this to be the king of the dipsh*ts. I mean, I'm not in this hobby to stroke my ego or to be part of some popular group.. I'm in it because I love the toys and the creativity. Ok, I like you guys too, but no contests for me please.

I think the real immaturity kicks in when collectors diss one another across categories; such as what MechamasterJ described with model builders dissing collectors and so forth. When people stoop That low, That's when it can be said the individual Hasn't really grown up and is acting childish being a snob just because this person collects one thing and the other person builds or collects something else. When non-hobbyists look at us collectors (whether we collect Japanese robots or StarWars or D&D, or slam pods, or whatever) all they see is the tip of a huge global iceberg............ ...take a step back and look at all the cool stuff that goes on around here housed under this one roof called RJ: everything from Collecting to Modding and Customizing and even Comic art and air-brushing Tshirts! We even have a guy here who uses professional machine shop CNC tools to make his own custom Robocain! This hobby brings out so much talent and skills from any one individual or group of people here at RJ it's phenominal! I gotta laugh.......... last summer I spent a few weeks building and repairing my Mechacolle Mazinger model kit. My housemates were watching in awe at the intense detail and effort I put into that kit right down to the tiniest kit parts. They wanted me to apply that much intensity towards repainting our windows and porch. I had no problem painting the house without being messy about it. Then I went back to the kit again, while they watched me kick ass with it. After the kit was completed, my "audience" just brushed it off as "another toy". I mean, WTF! ;D ....Yo, This man said it best...... "I get No Respect!"zozo-mag

hmm like when I went looking for Agnostic Fronts United Blood and the price was ridiculous, then years later their bassist joined my band and I asked him for one and he said he doesnt even have one of his own, he had given all them out over the years and he didnt wanna spend all that money on one..AND HES ON THE RECORD. My girlfriend doesn't even have half the recordings of her band she played on. Crazy. What band were/are you in? And that all said. I am with Geoffrey (my old employer from many moons ago) and Kevin Seconds ... YOUNG 'TILL I DIE. Now who will be at Frank & Sons this morning? I am in a band called Against the Grain NYHC since 1996. (we added the NYHC after a couple of other bands popped up with that name) Its made up of members of Agnostic Front, Cause for Alarm, Faction Zero and some members went on to play for 25 Ta Life and Downlow. We are all much older now and have other priorities but it was fun while it lasted. Not officially broken up though

I think remember 25 Ta Life playing with Mindwar (XNO) here in New Haven, CT. at the Tune Inn around 1995 (?). www.freewebs.com/cthardcore/mindwar.htm I did most of the art and photography for Mindwar.

Nice to see there's more life beyond Gorilla Bisquits. ;D (don't get me wrong, they Rock! Agnostic, 25TL, Downlow, man so many bands from the old skool and modern!) The only hardcore bands I can think of in my local area are Dying Breed and Brick-By-Brick; and Skinless who are deathmetal. I haven't been to any shows in the past couple years. zozo-mag

I always like when my two favorite interests cross paths (Hardcore and Robots). I know most of those bands but my favorites have always been Token Entry, SOIA, Burn and Murphy's Law.
