Isn't that the Laser Optimus, though? I think it might be the Battle Convoy that was the original pre-TF Diaclone version. See below...   Maybe Takara will be revisiting TF roots in upcoming reissues. I'd be glad to see this happen.  |

All the sites that have announced the reissue are showing Laser Rod Optimus Prime. I believe Laser Rod is the only Battle Convoy from the TF line. The original Battle Convoy name was only used in Diaclone, not in TF. The Japanese G1 Optimus Prime is just plain Convoy.

I think a diaclone version of Convoy was not good because is too similar to the g1 Convoy... Good is the diaclone blue version of Ultra Magnus..........

Well if it was a nearly exact replica of the original, it would be worth it. Not only would it be sweet to display the original "Diaclone" trailer (complete with vanity plates), but you'd get the Diaclone drivers and those magnetic metal plates inside the trailer too. This really was a better version of the G1 Optimus Prime, at least in terms of the trailer and what you could do with it.
But they're not reissuing it, so the point is probably moot.

I'm still waiting for the Dinobots re-issue and Takara instead releases this Prime? Why don't they release some of the Combiner Transformers instead with updated connecting joints or finish off the Series 1 and 2 cars that are still missing. Seems to me that Takara is just trying to make even more money of this mold.
