Let's start by saying I am not a fan of Miku Hatsune's. Not a fan of the music, nor the toys and flood of merchandising "she" spawned. Not really into this "girly manga statues" scene either. But this... I think I may actually want this. As I said, I don't usually fancy this kind of statue. It's really not in line with the rest of my collection. But as much as I've tried to ignore it, it's like it's calling out to me. It would look great next to the entertainment center in my man(child) cave. (Ok... maybe I'd need to get a man cave first before buying stuff for it and I already seriously need to shrink down my collection, but... but... that's not the point and... and... and you're not my mom! ;D ) I'd need to figure out some way to hang it onto a wall, which would be much easier if the back side was flat. That round tower may complicate things. Oh well... as they say, I'll cross the bridge when I reach the river. I'll figure out a way to hang it onto a wall when I have an actual wall to hang it onto. (Why do I have that feeling that this sentence was horribly grammatically wrong. It's like my old English teacher's breathing down my neck... brrr...) The statue shown above is the DX version. There's also a regular version without the huge megaphones, considerably cheaper, but a lot less "epic", as CollectionDX put it. Available at the Goodsmile Online Shop. Preorders open until September 26. Release planned for late January 2012. ¥8,800 (~US$115) for the regular and ¥14,000 (~US$182) for the DX version. ¥2,000 (~US$26) for shipping to all countries, except Japan (who obviously pay less). I think it's per order and not per item, but I'm not %100 sure. I know some members here have placed orders on the Goodsmile Shop. Surely some of you have ordered multiple figures from them at once. It would be nice if you could clear this up.

LOL! Something about all that blue tinture on these statues: It reminds me of the pile of stone Mazingers at the end credits of the "Shin Mazinger" series.... "Brand New Worrrrrrrrrrld!"" LOL! ;D
This is a cute statue... makes a nice "dashboard ornament" to rival Jesus and Mary. ;D

A 15inch wide dashboard ornament.
Just stay off the highways and school zones.

The regular edition is also available at most Japanese online stores for less (US$85 at AmiAmi), but shipping might kill the deal, especially if you're ordering more than one.
Although I couldn't find any mention of this on the website, the DX version may be a Goodsmile online shop exclusive, as I haven't seen it anywhere else.

Just tossing this in - when I ordered the WF figmas from the English GoodSmile page the shipping fee was indeed per order (2x figma at 3,000 and shipping at 2,000). Also, regarding mounting: Depending on the statue's footprint, you might be able to fit it on one of those round-platform candle sconces. Or alternatively, maybe one of those overly ornate baroque style wall shelves you can pick up at a hobby store, especially if you add some matching teal highlights or something. That could be a cool counterpoint. -> Sorry. I used to work at Michaels, and sometimes the old war wounds act up. Also, please forgive the 5 minute photoshop job.

I like the curves on that shelf, which happen to flow in the same direction as her hair. Nice. But the problem I have is with the back of the statue. The tower goes past the platform and railing, so if I were to put it against a wall, there would be a gap there. The platform wouldn't sit flush against the wall. Not the end of the world, it would probably still look good, but it's not exactly how I would want it to be. I could either sculpt a platform extension myself, which really don't feel like doing. I don't think I'm a good enough artist to replicate the paint job on the statue for the integration of the extension to be seamless. Repainting the whole base would work, but... meh... no. That would totally ruin the statue and I'm afraid that if I decide to buy this statue, as good as it may look, I easily see myself having second thoughts about it later and want to sell it later. This is no Fewture Black Getter. It's definitely out of my usual collectiing habits and though I'm ready to go for something different once in a while, I'd rather keep the exit door open. Likewise, sawing half of the tower off would be an quick an easy fix, would look good on a wall, but totally ruin the statue for anyone else. Third solution, punch a hole in the wall. ... err... no. Definitely not. A combination of the first a third "options" would do nicely, though. Building an extension, not really for the statue, but for the wall, or rather the decorative shelf below. A sculpted block that would sit on the shelf, between the wall and the statue, with a cavity of the tower's shape, so you can "lock it in". That would fill the unsightly gap behind the platform. I'll think about it later. I'm not even sure about buying the statue yet. I'd better make up my mind on that first. ;D

Well, if you ever decide to buy it and regret it later, it would make a nice gift for your wife or girlfriend for Christmas or on Valentine's Day. zozo-mag

I don't know anything about Hatsune Miku other than that she's a voice-synthesizer software... and that her popularity has taken on a life of its own and is a virtual pop-diva with video games and "live" concerts held around the world. But I know what I like and this statue looks amazing.
Anyway, so I look up "Love is War" and er... question - it's an original song by a group called Supercell? Are Supercell the band who backs up Miku? Are they a band at all? Or are they just a production team (the way Gorillaz are produced by that dude from Blur)? I rather liked the song when I found it on Youtube but I have no idea if I was watching a sanctioned video or if it was fan-made or what (Miku sure looked a lot older than her usual video-game and concert persona)... And I do notice that Love is War must be popular enough to have spawned this statue and even some cosplayer to introduce the mega-phone as a prop much like her leek stalk she used to wave around... internet meme gone viral?

I think that many (maybe most) of the Miku songs posted on NicoVideo/YouTube are original compositions, input into the vocaloid software to be "performed." I think the videos are homemade too, either by the people who create the songs or fans of them. So... while Miku's character design, programming, etc. are from Yamaha her songs, idol persona and all are from the community rather than a record label. But I could be off.

Instead of creating a new thread, I renamed and brought that old one back from the dead. Seemed appropriate for something like this : "Kissy kissyyyy!" From what I could find about it, it's not really Hatsune Miku, but a freaky robot with a shell that looks like the teal-haired vocaloid named Calne Ca. There's also a variant with a nurse outfit. By Union Creative. Retail price of ¥11,905 (cheaper at the usual places).

Shhhhhhhhh!Seriously, I'm not a vocaloid pop fan, but some Hatsune Miku figures (statues and articulated) are gorgeous. I want a Virtual On Miku, too. (Bandai Fei Yen Hatsune Miku VR-014/HD Composite Ver. Ka.) And an "Append Ver." statue or Figma to go with it. The Fei Yen Miku was in Super Robot Wars, so its so TOTALLY justified. It's the first Hatsune Miku Figma (014) that should be its pilot figure, if you go by that game, but I prefer the Append Ver.
