hi guys,
i am currently trying to collect back cms ggg series which i sold ages ago. i am stuck between the brave 01+01x real coloue ver and brave 25 ver2. i owned a brave 02 previously so i have none of the above ver b4.
i found brave01+01x real colour for ard $350 and brave 25 for ard $160. Now i am stuck, shld i go for....
Brave 01+01x, GOOD 1)limited to mayb 500 or 900pcs 2)save the trouble looking for 01x which is quite difficult. BAD 1) heard some really bad reviews abt them 2) EXPENSIVE!!! lol 3) all plastic and fragile
Brave 25 GOOD 1)new improve fig and diecast 2)CHEAP!!! lol BAD 1)have to wait out everyday and hope a 01x popout in auctions to form Star GGG
what will u do if it is in your position. thaniks in advance

Eh my first post in this forum. It's up to you. I have gotten the Brave 25 ver 2 recently, am satisfied with the articuled hands and sculpt. I suggest getting Gaigo to fit on the brave 01+01x, so you have a more stable and heavier GGG.
Recently I've bought quite a number of CM's brave gokins. GGG, GFG limited, Gaigo, GGGG, bandai's GGG with hammer, yujin's GFG, takara GGG and kotobukiya SD GGG. (all within these few weeks..).For me only thing now is to find a decent priced goldion hammer and stealth gao II (near impossible to find).

My advice, always go for the ver.2, whether with the Goldion Hammer or not. The improvements are quite significant and made the figure much more stable. So rather than looking for Brave 01, go with either:
Brave 24 (Star GGG ver.2 with Goldymarg ver.2) Brave 25 (GGG ver.2 without Goldymarg, and see if you can find a Brave 01X later) Brave 02 (Star GGG ver.1 with Goldymarg ver.1...only if you have to have a Goldy for sure, and suffer with an older GGG)
Don't go for the ver.1 GGG anymore if you can, when you can find a Brave 25 very easy at a good price. Goldymarg itself is not really that great of a toy. Its worth it if its a $50 add-on, or even a $100 if you are a diehard fan. But definitely not worth it for the astronomical prices people are asking for these days. And its essentially a brick for GGG to have the Marg Hand, almost zero posability (either the weight or the size of it being in the way). Making the new Bandai SRC GGG & Hammer set a much cooler and cheaper option for a very poseable Goldion Hammer GGG gokin figure (just smaller and can't combine, but looks much much better and can pose like crazy). While you just have the Brave 25 for an improved sturdier GGG to play with combination.

Pretty sure ver.1 Goldymarg will fit a ver.2 GGG, as the Goldymarg body remained the same. The change/improvement is on the arms with a broader shoulder and retractable fists. Heard it has ratchet joints added to some leg joints, but otherwise the figure is more or less the same mold on the rest of the body.
I have a ver.2 GGG on the way, so I can test it with my ver.1 Goldmarg and let you know when it arrives.

any difference from brave 25 ver2? in terms of diecast or any changes? i saw one in auction and is tempted...
recently taken a liking to start the vintage takara braves. its quite expensive to collect these 8 main bots.. anyone kind enough to help kickstart this line??? or i shld move along and carry on with future SOCs, FEWTURE or CMs stuffs??? comparing more articulation tahn to 8jumbo blocks of robots...lol
thanks in advance and i know i am asking too many questions lol...forgive me

I don't have many Takaras, but I do have King J-Der. If you are a pure toy collector and aesthetics is not important, the Takaras always have good review & feedback. Durable, playable, sturdy. But they look like...vintage. I love my King J-Der and fly that thing around often, but partly is because of its size, and being the only transformable version of him. But some of the proportion and details are quite off-putting, as I am very picky on aesthetics and accuracy. Even the CM's GGG proportion is botherline to me, so let alone the Takaras. So depends on what kind of collector you are, for the worth of acquiring the Takaras.
I don't know much of the revised Brave 01, so can't help you there.

All of the revised GaoGaiGar figures had significant enough changes that they changed the number designation entirely to 24 and 25. If something is listed as 01 it won't have any of the physical upgrades of the revised GaoGaiGar figs and will just be a different paint version - in other words, stay away.

I too would recommend getting the gaogaigar ver 2. I've owned both and you REALLY don't want ver1. Linear gao has no locking mechanism in gaogaigar mode so it is very loose. The knees aren't diecast and can break over time. Also, the lion manes don't have any lock and always go out of place during play. All these problems are fixed in ver2.
I just got ver 2 from Angolz for 102 US dollars and it feels really solid. There is more diecast. I know brave 1x power up set may be quite hard to find but they do pop up from Yahoo japan from time to time. It's worth it to wait it out. Finally, old news but I recently picked up a gaofighgar for 69 dollars from Angolz as well. I still love it despite the flaws that other members have mentioned.

Ok. Just tried out my GGG ver. 2 with my SGGG ver. 1 parts and Goldy. All fit just fine. And with the added improvements, SGGG now is one solid gokin. Got some heft, and very stable even with the Marg Hand attached. Love the slight proportion tweaks on GGG, with slightly longer biceps (with diecast too) and the shoulders can retract a bit to make the shoulders less broad. Now the Stealth Gao and the Lion mane stays on locked, and no more Liner Gao sliding left and right.
There are still some things I don't like. The head sculpt looks a bit odd and very flat on the face. I like the head of the GGG ver.1 better. And the new head fitment is still very iffy. Gaigar's head also looked worse. The knee ratchets seems weak, maybe due to using diecast parts with less mold precision. Moveable fingers could use tighter joints (though great design on the shapes and movement range). Not sure if I dig all the minor color change as well. The lion mane is very red orange, and the gold is quite lemon yellow. It lacks the color contrast/subtlty in the ver.1, but not really significant.
If the GGG ver.1 worth a 6, the ver.2 improvements can easily bump it to a 8.5 or a 9. Adding the SGGG parts and Goldy, and you'll have a sturdy awesome GGG gokin that is quite satisfying.
