Absolutely love this photo. It looks great put in an environment as if being played with. But in a pose that's abso-stonking-bad arse! And the right amount of light and shade giving him that epic feel.
I hope I can eventually get a 1st edition Great Maz. Like my recently traded 1st Edition Raideen. The original sculpts are more heroic and less stiff in pose.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!

Finally scored me one of the (Mattel) first editions!
I am majorly excited!
The chest scultp is so much nicer. With its bent back tips, and much sleeker and narrower shape than the large plastic chunk in the 2nd edition. The split knees and proportions are much nicer. And I love the black fist.
However mine is missing the Hover Pilder or whatever it is called on Great Mazinger. I tried to put in the 2nd edition version but it's too wide. Anyone have or know of a comparison shot showing the differences between the 2?

Version 1 is the full-nosed Brain Condor, while version 2 is the ugly plug-nosed version...
...the plug looks like a fish mouth that's open like it's gonna hickey your eyeball right outta the socket. ;D
You can fit the full-nose Brain Condor into either of the two Great Mazinga jumbo version.
The plug-nosed Brain Condor will only fit inside the Great Mazinga jumbo it came with.
A few years ago, I took my plug-nosed Condor and fabricated a full nose into it. It was a decent job. But after a while I didn't like it at all, and I gave up on that project.
I'll post a pic of the full-nose version later tonight or tomorrow.

I believe it's the Mattel. It does have a taller more pointy head than my 2nd edition, split knees, black right fist/cuff and molded wheels. And the proportions and pose a slightly less Rigid looking and more heroic. I'll post images of it as soon as I have a chance.
The brain condor in my 2nd edition is the full removable type but the wing area seems to be wider than the one used for the 1st edition. It won't seat in the slots of the silver crown.

Nice trio. Grendy looks super minty.
What I like with those 3, especially when you see them together, it's the amount of missiles but nothing to shoot them.

Kaus thanks for posting those images. You helped me sort out my dilemma. I do indeed have the 1st edition Mattel, and 2nd Edition Mattel and 3rd Edition Mattel. It's not the Popy 1st edition unfortunately...but it's a nice addition to my collection. I need to find the dark canopied, small engined, sharp angled tail 1st edition Condor Brain. The wing sweep is slightly narrower and will sit properly into the socket crown. A few pictures...

I have a 3rd edition Mazinga with the plug-nose brain condor, but I wish get a repro instead. Any suggestions on whether or not a first edition ship or second edition ship are compatible with a 3rd edition Mazinga head?

what plug nose? any pictures? Mattel No. 9860 Great Mazinga (3rd edition)aka The plug nose version: instead of the sharp pointy nose, the front end is a huge "mouth" that looks like the rim of a small jar (more like a fish mouth! lol). If you've seen a cat fish inside a fish tank with its lips pressed and suckered up against the glass, That's what the 3rd edition Grt Mazinga's Brain Condor looks like. No joke. I can't find any pics of it right now since I'm leaving for work. But, yeah, that Condor version is a pain in the butt removing and putting it back on Grt Maz jumbo's head... sometimes either the head or the Condor would get cracked or broken from the frustration of removing the Condor. -------------- @ Kaus: some of your pics can't be seen. zozo-mag

It has been some time, but believe when I pulled out the "plug" condor, the head is like more or less a version 2 head.

That version 2 head is the one I had when I pulled the "plug" out of mine. A version 1 Brain Condor (full nose) just Might fit into the later version heads, but a little more loosely.
