No love for these? Really? I know it was not a popular show, and the toys are a little obscure. But they are amazing and rare. Its not often you will get to see these in such detail.

Those are outstanding! I only have the main character in this series, but definitely have the rest on the list. Such great examples pictured by Bill! Curious if this was a long hunt, or did he pick them all up in a lot. Boxes look spiffy and clean. Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks Dylan. The hunt lasted me 3 years. A few of these are too pricey to pick up in one shot. Most I was able to get early in my collecting. I picked up a couple from an Italian collector, and couple of more from YHJ. The Polimar Machine showed up numerous times, but always when I was short on cash and I had to let them pass. Then a well hidden auction showed up early this year where I was able to pick it up for a nice price. The final piece I needed was the Drill, which is among the hardest ones to get in good boxed condition. I had only seen one boxed one for sale before, and it was at Mandarake a couple of years ago for 55k yen. Even with no commissions and a good exchange rate at the time, that was a crazy price for me (but someone eventually grabbed it). I was finally able to complete the set this past summer when it was listed in im_power's major auctions. I knew it wouldn't be cheap, but as the last one to complete the set, I decided to dig deep and go for it - and no regrets whatsoever As I said, some of these are not cheap and will run you in the hundreds, so you have to really dig the vehicles or have some kind of connection to the show/toys to go for them - especially with exchange rates these days. @myles, it doesn't surprise me there is not much love for these. The anime was shown in Italy and a couple of other places, but outside of there it is really just not well known or cared about. But as a big Popinica/vehicle fan, these were high on my list from the outset.

Thanks for the story of the hunt, Bill. That's almost better than finding them all in one swoop sometimes, building that set, the anticipation as each piece, or pieces, arrive. Good times!
Been out of the game for a while, but very much feeling the pull to get some of the missing links on the shelves right now. Again, thanks for putting the article together.
