hello, I'm new here, its good to read all the info that is buried here. since couple years I'm collecting the old tin robots, but recently opened my eyes to "newer" 70s vinyl, diecast robots, thanks to my little 1y son who is a fan of the robocon youtube movies and to the book of jimbo matison. recently picked up a vinyl bandai robocon, which I very much like. as I know nothing of value or date or rarity or whatever on these kind of robots I want ask, do you have info for me for this robocon? thanks!

Welcome! We are always glad to have new members, especially tin collectors. There are a few tin collectors who lurk here and on other boards. We'd love to see your collection.
As to the toy - great pickup! How tall is it?
I've seen it on Yahoo Japan several times, so I don't think it is ultra rare. At least over there. Here, in the US, I have rarely seen it. As to pricing, I don't really follow these auctions to the end, so I don't know the final prices. Sorry. But with the box and the condition it is in, I would guess about $100? But I am no expert on these, so my estimate has little weight.

It's a standard sized Bandai Robocon vinyl from 1974. The others in this series demand 3-4X as much as this one as it's the most popular. Cool piece!

Indeed, love the collection mrhorikawa. Thanks for sharing! I agree with Erik. Your robocon may be the most cool of the series but the more odd, and rare, Robocons demand extra. I have seen asking prices hover around $100 or so. Ganbare!! Robocon (がんばれ!!ロボコン Ganbare!! Robokon?, Do Your Best!! Robocon) was a Japanese television program created by Shotaro Ishinomori and produced by Toei. It ran for 118 episodes from October 4, 1974 to March 25, 1977 on NET TV. The series is rebooted in the 1999 series Moero!! Robocon (燃えろ!!ロボコン Moero!! Robokon?, Burn!! Robocon). The story followed Robocon, a student of Gantz' Robot Academy who lives amongst humans and aids them as part of his studies. Though Robocon is a screw up, he make efforts to establish a good image for robots in the eyes of humans they cross paths with. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganbare!!_Robocon

Nice tin collection - the Robocon seems to fit in nicely among them.
