Nice sketch man. Some tips : think about your posing : what's coming on foreground, then second, etc... Dynamic pose means perspective (I know you know ^__^) So, if torso is 3/4 fornt angle like the one you choose : - its left arm is on foreground (so bigger than its right arm - right biceps is too long : think about the posing : what position has right elbow ? - right shoulder is not aligned with left shoulder... - torso skull inferior jaw is no properly aligned with the superior one - look at the teeth, they must be aligned (perspective again) - head is too much "front-face" : choose an angle (a little bit turned will be nice) then horns will have different sizes (perspective again)A good tip : when you are sketching, look at your drawing in a mirror, you will discover a lot of mistakes Brain takes some habits during sketching...
Hope it is helping.
Drawing super robots is very good for practicing, it's all about ellipses, boxes, angles... basis for skills.

Thanks, but I didn't ask for your rendition. I though I was in a forum where people share passions, interest and ideas.... Obviously, this thread is only your gallery... Sorry for the intrusion.

Listen LeHam.... First off its a SKETCH not a finished drawing, the way you changed the left hand looks Horrible LeHam,and have you ever had a Gaiking toy or seen many pics?YOU NEVER see a waist from any front angle except for the extreme side, anyhow even if was the case, you wouldnt see his waist anyhow. Also adding a bunch off gesture lines, does not help anyone, especially when they are MOSTLY directly over the originals?and why put elipses in the horns etc.at this stage??You do that BEFORE you get to this stage in the drawing, they would be erased by now, furthermore, whats the point?Elipses, and a bunch of squares are for amateurs anyhow LeHam,,if you know so much, you wouldnt need all those shapes and lines anyhow, that is to help beginners, obviously Sizzlak is not a beginner. This is a moot point, your lessons are unwarranted as well as your ripping apart a fine drawing.Put some of yours up ID love to critique them!Ive actually been to art school,ok LeHam.If we are ignoring the technicalities of teh actual Gaiking who has a very angular square waist, this is where the waist would be generically for Super Robots, and to illustrate my point,I could go on Critiqueing LeHam's critique, but I think he gets the point.A"Know it All" anyone?

Wow. Easy. First, name is LEJAM Then (again) my intention was not to offense anybody. Specially people who put effort in drawing. The design is very well defined at the base. I just draw lines on the sketch to highlight some minor errors, that's all. You should have seen it as the ratings and not corrections made by someone who feels superior to others. Certainly, I recognize that it was maybe not the best way to give help. And in any case I doubted the quality and level of Sizzlak . So Sizzlak, sorry to have yet intruded here in this way.

Keep the name calling to ZERO. Lejam was only giving advice and not criticizing he is also a professional artist and is working for iGear creating the box art for their new PP Seekers. He was also right about the little perspective faults but also said it was a great design in the first line. Every artist can learn to get better and critique is also how you grow and get better as an artist. I also went to collage for art too (more specifically computer animation) and constant critique was the norm, its one of the best way to learn since your own eye will see past mistakes others will see. In the end the tips were given in good faith and no disrespect was meant. Here's a link to some of his work, critique away I'm sure he would actually like appreciate some constructive critism. robotjapan.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=TakaraTransformers&action=display&thread=16897&page=9

Very nice work LeJam. DRAWING over the top of someones artwork is as offensive as you can get.Ofcourse you critique at art school, because that is what you do in class. This isnt art class,he was just sharing a drawing and didnt ask for opinion.I think picking at every little thing is a bit much, whether he was trying to be helpful or not.Im sure their are many who would agree.Actually its none of my business anyway, sorry If I ran to another members aid,I thought it was a nice thing to do.Sorry for calling you LeHam.Here are a couple of my paintings, the mad doctor adorns a friends CD case in National CD chains like FYE.His band is Addicted to Pain Next timeLeJam a private email would have been better to Sizzlak,me thinks.Ill leave this conversation,Chen sorry about the name calling, that was out of line.

Well, I must admit I am benefiting from everyone's input here... ...all those tips and helps and drawings... they'll serve to teach me new ideas and apply them, and they'll also help me improve any basic stuff I already know; and I can practice these ideas to my projects whether I'm drawing on paper, sculpting and casting objects, or drawing and modeling polygons and 3D objects. Therefore I'm really grateful for everyone's input here, if not for those ideas above I wouldn't have learned anything new today. Arigatto! zozo-mag
