Hey, guys.
I have never gotten a Yamato Macross Valk...for some reason. I guess the time wasn't right, but now, I think it is high time I get one, and I really lie the missile hatches opening awesomeness of the Armored Valk, but I can afford only one.
I have taken a look and I know about the 1/60 worth your while are the V2 ones, but I have not been able to locate any of them..on the other hand, I have found a couple 1/48 that are buyeable.
So, spread your wisdom. Which one is the best one and why.
Thanks!!

Depends what your looking for, for sheer size and shelf presence I'd say the 1/48 is the way to go. It may not be as line accurate as the 1/60 but it is larger and IMHO sturdier, if you plan on getting more than one I'd say the sheer variety in the 1/60 scale is your better choice.

Studier sounds nice. I just want one, to have a sample of the Classic Valk, so I am leaning towards the 1/48 so far.

If scale is important to you and you intend to get valks from various other macross series and display them together then 1/60s are the way to go their even in scale with the Zentreadi matchbox battlepod releases
However, I believe aesthetic-wise the 1/48 are superior to both versions of Yamato's 1/60. its also quite solid, coming from Yamato's 1st version 1/60 Valks, I was actually surprised with how solid everything fit together when I handled the 1/48 for the 1st time some 9 years ago. At that point, I considered it to be the best/ most perfect transforming valk ever created....since then I've added 10 more to my fleet to date. It simply can't be beat.
Never, really got the itch to consider or handle Yamato's V2 1/60 Valks....

A few months ago I got my first 1/48 (VF-1S Roy Focker type) after getting many 1/60 V2, just because I had to have at least one of them. I don't regret buying it because I had it at steep discount and it's still cool toy but I must say nowhere does it compare with the 1/60. It also doesn't feel sturdier than the 1/60 : I mean it's big and solid but it feels all wobly when you're used to the tightness 1/60 The 1/60 is far superior in every possible way and I couldn't recommend it enough over the 1/48. Of course the 1/48 was amazing at the time it came out (9 years already?) but its design definitely shows its age by today's standards : it doesn't feel as solid as the 1/60 in any of the 3 modes : - the 1/60 has solid fighter, everything locks together firmly (droopy arms on the 1/48, doesn't lock together as firmly as 1/60, it also has a very broad cockpit that doesn't feel right to me at all) - a great gerwalk (you can do great poses in gerwalk with the 1/60 whereas the 1/48 is very limited - the best battroid VF-1 ever built (providing you get one of the current reissues that have the shoulder pin fix, from HLJ for example), very posable and well proportionate scuplt. The 1/48 battroid is not as much poseable (at the elbows and shoulders mostly, but I think the 1/60's hips are much better too), has the tip of the nosecone falling below the knees which looks weird. Oh and it comes with scrawny hands too The Armor itself has a better locking design on the 1/60 and better proportions and it's also much more fun to play with and poses much better. The only pros I see for the 1/48 are the size, and some small details such as a gunstrap on the gunpod, working airbrake on the back of fighter mode and an integrated antenna in the backpack for gerwalk. Honestly though these are all minor in the end, I'd say if you have to have only one, the 1/60 wins hands down (just my 1/60 spoiled opinion of course )

I agree with all the posts...if you're looking for only one then I would go with the 1/48. Yamato has essentially left the 1/48's for dead so you should be able to get some pretty decent deals on one.

Thanks for the info, guys. I think I will go with the 1/48 if I can find a good deal, as the 1/16 with armor in Version 2 is a bit expensive right now, if it can be located at all.

Good choice Try and get a later release which comes with hands you can attach if the "skeleton" hands bother you..... Whatever minor design flaws it has its "luxurious" size and detail more than makes up for..........
