Hi Guys. I need some advise on Hot Toys. Recently I have develope a great interest in Hot Toys. They are very well made which attracts me. What I want to know are : 1) Does Hot Toys reissue some of their older products ? I am interested in some of the Hot Toys like the AVP Predators but they are very expensive. Some of them cost more than a Fewture Shin Getter!! 2) Are Hot Toys fragile? I heard that their head breaks easily. Thank you in advance for your advise

1) To my knowledge, no, never. They did, however, release improved or different versions of an existing figure, like the DX Batman (with movable eyes) and the battle damaged Iron Man Mark III (which included the parts to make it a non-damaged version, along with some extra features). What are the odds for Hot Toys to make another AVP Predator, that, I don't know. They seem to be heavily milking the Predators (the 2010 movie) license right now, but AVP is already an oldie and not exactly a classic. But if the demand is there and there's money to be made, who knows. Chances seem slim to me, though. The classic Jungle Hunter is more likely to get a second shot first, IMO.
2) I've heard some rants about this, but have not run into any problem of this kind myself so far. Though I haven't fiddled much with most them and never put them on display at all. I did give the Iron Man Mark III (original release) the semi-rough treatment and it survived without any injuries. The others (Iron Man Mark I, Appleseed Deunan Knute, Briareos and that other guy whose name I always forget) seemed fine. Not kid-proof, obviously, but they didn't threaten to break if I looked at them the wrong way either. It seems that those with a rubber suit/skin are subject to unwanted sticking/fusion and tearing if you leave them in some extreme (and even not-so-extreme) poses. As I said, I have never put mine on display, so I couldn't comment on this.
EDIT : Typed "Mark IV" when I meant "Mark III". Corrected.

they do Re-Releases to some of their products, they are re-releasing Their Iron Man Mark I .. with a Diff Headsculp i guess.. and Regarding Predators, there is the Classic Predator on the way on January .. Sometimes their products have QC issues "Ironman's Pants turn Pink from Red" .. and DX02 Batman had Oily abs .. nevertheless with hot toys i think you're Getting your Money worth it with great attention to detail "Likeness" than any other 1/6 competitors out there. Classic Predator www.amiami.jp/shop/?set=english&vgForm=ProductInfo&sku=FIG-KAI-2945&template=default/product/e_display.html

Thank you very much for the info krimpov & Dead-Man. Checked Youtube yesterday & found out that there are at least 15 Predators from Hot Toys. :oThe AVP version needs to be assemble while the non AVP are already assembled.Lucky for me I am not going to get them all. Blade is a very nice but expensive figure. Will get the newer one first. Thanks again for the helpful info guys.

Hi Guys. I have another query.Does anybody has the Neca 18 inch Alien figure? Is it better than the Hot Toys Alien figure? I was about to purchase the Hot Toys Alien when I came across the Neca 18 inch version. They are bigger than the Hot Toys version & cheaper.I can actually buy 3-4 of them for the price of a Hot Toys Alien. Are the quality & articulation good? Thanks in advance for your advise.

First of all, I believe Hot Toys have released more than one Alien figure, so you'll need to be more precise which one you're thinking of getting. Then, you cannot really compare the Neca Alien and the Hot Toys Alien because are in a completely different league. One is a pretty standard 18" figure, whereas the other is a high-end collectible. Personally I've never been a big fan of Neca's because their final product often does not deliver what the prototype promised. Here's a link to the Michael Crawford review of Neca's 18" Alien: www.mwctoys.com/REVIEW_061308a.htmLooks ok, but looks like the plastic toy it is. Ultimately, it's up to you to make up your mind on whether you want to go with the 18" one or the more detailed Hot Toys one. Anyway, I think that Hot Toys' Alien Big Chap also measures in at around 14.5" and that's probably a much better figure: www.collectiondx.com/review/action_figure/alien_big_chapHope that helps.

Thanks for the info snowdog. All the Alien figures from Hot Toy are at least a few hundred plus so which is why I am thinking of getting the ALien figure from Neca. Besides it does not come with any accessories. Thanks for the url link which gave me a better idea of both product. I appreciate it.

I didn't give up Chogokin and collecting Hot Toys at the same time. My wallet hates me...
If you are a Pirates fan, don't forget to take a look at the DX06. Quite a few places labeled it the 12" figure of the year, and I almost totally missed out on that if I haven't bumped into some video reviews on youtube by chance. Now I have it at BBTS waiting to be shipped. Keaton Batman is also really good, while Christopher Reeve Superman is very popular as well. And if you want to break your bank, the Tumbler is gonna be re-issued, and Keaton Batman's Batmobile is coming along as well. When it comes to Hot Toys, there are almost always too much cool stuff to buy, and you have to limit yourself to the selected few. Oh yeah, don't forget all the Ironmans and the Ironman Mark I 2.0.

I have only 2 currently ( AVP Requiem Wolf Predator & Spiderman New Goblin ) & I must say that they are very well made except for the Wolf Predator which needs to be assemble. BTW Hot Toys has announced that they will be making new Predators figure for all the Predator movies in 1/6 & 1/4 size. And some of the body armour will be diecast.Really looking towards it.

Yeah, I tried to avoid Hot Toys, but man they sucked me in! Almost makes me glad the big SOCs have slowed a bit so I 'm able to keep up So far I've got Captain America, Superman and Blade. We're getting a new entertainment center soon so I'm going to using the top to display 12" figures....Hot Toys and American heroes on one side and the Japanese heroes on the other (I have 12" figures of Giant Robot, Spectreman, Ultraman, Denjin Zaboga, and the Gatchaman trio and I'll no doubt pull the trigger on a Goldar and a Spiderman once I have the display all set up )
