Won a Combattler a couple weeks ago and got it in already. So, tonight I took a few photos of it and started a restoration / customization page to hopefully keep up to date and track that progress. It needs some work, but not too bad overall. www.teambac.com/shogun_warriors/Combattler_restoration.htmlI have some fellow Robot Japan members ready to give me a hand on this jumbo for fixing it up. Would like to thank Toyseeker2010, WillOhio, and Eyeone for ready and willing to loan me parts for copying and assist in any other way with this jumbo. Thanks guys. And of course, I have a list of things to fix and make custom parts for it. - Reproduction left cuff to work with my modular fists
- Reproduction yo-yo for the missing one (I took one off to look at and didn't place it back on for the photos)
- Reproduction antennas for the head piece
- Custom yellow piece for the center, lower torso red piece
- Custom back piece to look more like Earth Mover 3 for treads and such
- Custom yo-yos at the ankle area, held on by magnets
- Clean up or replace the rusty headed screws
- May look at a custom piece for the knee area to look more like the comic or SOC version
So as you can see, there will be some cool things in the future for Combattler.

Hey Bourno... you're only 1 Jumbo away from completing your childhood Shogun Warriors Comic book Triumvirate!
Man I cannot wait to see this restore take shape! Combattler is an awesome Robot toy!

This restore shouldn't be too bad. A good cleaning, and some parts and stickers.
The yo-yo looks pretty easy to copy. I plan to clean up a copy, then make a final good reproduction. Kinda the same with the arm, remove the rough stickers and make a mold of the arm, then modify, clean the resin copy and make a nice mold of that then. The cuff may end up being a 2 separate piece mold; the upper arm, and then a cap piece at the wrist area for easier reproducing.
I am quite certain, the custom pieces, will make it look even more sweeter. I am not sure at this point, if I will replace the red chest piece.
Yeah, getting a Danguard would be cool to get at some point. Right now, I have plenty going on, but come mid-Summer, I may be scurrying around for one then.

Bourno, what are your antenna plans? If you come up with a good fix, you could run a antenna replacement service for all the busted Combattler antennas I've seen. ;D We need some quality repro decals as well - Will I'm talking to you ;D

Bourno, what are your antenna plans? If you come up with a good fix, you could run a antenna replacement service for all the busted Combattler antennas I've seen. I will be borrowing a Combattler head from one the members for casting the antenna. I plan to make it "plug" fit. Something in the manner of this shape. are we all in competition for a danguard ace if one ever dares rear its head on ebay? I hate to say it, but that ended up being today. Which was much quicker than I anticipated. But, I made a 'best offer' on it, and the seller accepted it. Here was the auction www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-POPY-JUMBO-MACHINDER-DANGUARD-ACE-/180827030439?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a1a2183a7Figured some would be wondering if one of the members of RJ ended up with it. I didn't anticipate the seller to accept my offer and was surprised that they did. It needs some fixing, which I can justify at the price I got it for, but wasn't gonna be able to dish out their BIN price. I am sure there are plenty of us out there that want the complete trio from the Mavel comics. Besides doing some fixing on Danguard and making some reproduction leg swords, I don't have any custom ideas for him.

That was a incredible deal!!! Best deal I've seen in 5 years at least. You got the Helmet and the Wings which are almost never included in a loose Danguard and on top of that now you have to do the repro lancers I wanted ;D

Im gonna make everyone cry on this thread ... I bought that Combattler from Pinocchio's Toy Store in around 1978 or 79, I had the box and everything! I even had the treads that stowed in the back compartment. One day, when I was about 16 or 17 I went out to the dumpster and chucked it in.. box and all!

Yeah, I got to that age where all toys were thrown away to make room for girls! ..it was a really good trade for the time.
I threw out a bunch of chogokins, 3 Jumbos, an X-wing fighter,a TIE fighter, Darth Vaders TIE fighter, about 50 Star Wars figures... I was an IDIOT! .. but how could I have known at that time? hahah

just sharing a little anectdote re: girls and toys: a girl onced broke up with me because i was too 'immature' (i.e. i collected toys... never mind that we started dating when i was 16 LOL!) i lost the girl but kept the toys. i didn't know it at the time, but it was one of the best things that could ever have happened to me!

eyeone, thats a pretty good one. my gf now rolls her eyes when every other day i get a 2 foot box in the mail and i hop around "its my rodan! its my mazinga in the box!" etc.
she laughs, calls me dork, asks me if im even sensible enough to be embarrassed that while pushing 40 years of age my free time priority lately has been to rebuild, play with and talk about rare toy robots.
my answer is "no."
after they re all cleaned up, shes the first that wants to play with them. but theyre mine and no one else can touch them! lol.

Just a quick verbal update. I have been traveling for work the last week and really cuts down on my shop time then. For current items I am doing. On Combattler: - I have the yo-yo mold done. Am working to dial in the color for the plastic
- Still working on the antennas
- I made a yellow round piece for the torso, but the first one looked a little big, so am working on version 2 for it
- A reproduction cuff is about 3/4 done and hoping to start a mold of it in a couple days
Combattler still has a list of more custom parts that I want to get around on yet. On Dangard: - Am just getting around to start a mold to be a copy of a borrowed reproduction lance. I plan on doing my own thing on the backside to make it less weight and custom method for the piece that either holds it in place to the leg or to the hand.
- Took some photos of the stickers for WillOhio to hopefully add to his increasing reproduction stickers
