Yeah I heard about how Hasbro was releasing a UK Masterpiece Prime (eh? really? The UK is only celebrating Transformers' 20th Anniversary a year and a half later? Not likely.) News of Takara reissuing Convoy is cool tho since I didn't get around to buying him the first time around.

is it identical? doesn't that tick-off collectors who have him? or will there be a repaint to differentiate?

is it identical? doesn't that tick-off collectors who have him? or will there be a repaint to differentiate? Why should it tick them off? It was never marketed as a limited production run item. I welcome this reissue so that the toy will find its way into the hands of more fans and collectors.

i dunno, in some markets, to have a reissue that is identical makes the first one less valueable if it is off market. i guess i am thinking about investors and scalpers

Another good...very good for me. I didn't get the 1st run and didn't bite the insane price both in Philippines and here in Malaysia. Now my wife will be very happy, she has a crush on Optimus Prime ;D ;D ;D she really wanted to buy it before but stocks run out and what's being offered has a sky-rocket high prices You gotta love re-issues dri1

In my view, anybody willing to pay an inflated price on the secondary market for MP-1 is an idiot... like chet says, Takara NEVER said they would NOT reissue Masterpiece Convoy. So waiting for more to come out is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. For some collector's, there is an intrisic value to having a first-edition (like say, a first-printing to a book collector); and for them, it does not matter that the book was reprinted a million times afterwards.
I complained at the news that Yamato would be doing Low-Viz again for that reason: Yamato's publicity material specifically said that their 1/48-scale "Low-Visibility" VF-1A was a "limited edition." By producing more, that would've made them liars! (We now know 'LV2' will actually be a new repaint). ...and to all those who are whining that they didn't get the first Low-Viz: too bad - that's the game you play when you're collecting hi-end stuff like this.
