Cool! Although I was wishing that Yamato come up with the double-seaters for the 1/48 line soon. The Elintseeker, the Super-Ostrich, and the VF-1D. Besides, I need to have them release the Camo version first, and the camo GBP-1. The Angel colors don't really appeal to me. Thanks for the pics though.

Wow, I still want to collect all the 1/48 Yamato Valkyries but it's starting to get a little intimidating with all these re-colours.

Ah, come on Chen. We all knew it would happen at some point in time. I'm just glad to see some NEW paint schemes for once.

Chen, blame all of it on Aoshima... they started this with their multi-dimensional, multi-race and creed Shin Getter One repaints.

Yeah, but aoshima's re-paints are all pointless, excessive and have no solid anime basis to back it up. The 1/48 VF-1's all have anime basis save for 3 the stealth & two low vis but those look pretty damn cool compared to aoshima's "Gay purple Kaiser".
Perhaps yamato is really milking the 1/48 VF-1 molds to pay for the manufacturing costs for other up coming products such as the 1/60 YF-19.
Or maybe they're just saving to re-design the VF-1 cockpit and start spitting out 2 seater Valks ;D

I don't think it'd be too hard of a stretch to extend the cockpit (heh. "Stretch," get it?).

I think Yamato is just trying to get our wallets empty with all these new models

I don't think it'd be too hard of a stretch to extend the cockpit (heh. "Stretch," get it?). If I am not mistaken, there's a lot more involved than just stretching the fuselage to make the two seater. - fuselage resculpt - chestplate retool to accommodate the longer/bubble canopy - new heat shield to fit the new canopy - new armor sets and accessories - different chestplate design (for the VF-1D) Hopefully, if Yamato does release these two seaters, it'll be affordable... but again one can only dream.... sigh

Yeah, of course it's more complicated than I mentioned. I just can't waste the opportunity to throw in a good pun.

I really like the Angelbird, but I think I may focus on getting some of the core Valks beforehand. On a sidenote, my Stealth Super Valk came in while I was in San Diego, so I'm pretty stoked about that. Haven't had much time to actually "play" with it though. Just kinda opened the box and gazed at its awesomeness for a bit when I got home.

Angelbird is a joke for a variety of reasons... for one, we never did see it transform in the early episodes of Macross (we saw it only as a fighter)... and it definitely looked weird. But there was a gag that a sharp eye would've caught and now Yamato reveals the truth: the Angelbird is meant to be a Japanese school-girl outfit when it's in Battroid mode. Ugh - we do not need to be reminded that Macross was originally meant to be a spoof.
I'll say this though - about a decade later, Gundam pulled the same stunt and did it better with Nobel Gundam.

With the reissued Max and Kakizaki coming I can finally complete my DYRL Skull Squadron and give the 1/48 lineup a rest.
It'll give me time to save up for the Shin's VF-0A and the YF-19.

Does anybody know what is fixed on the re-issue Max? Does he still have the pins in the nose cone that fold in so the hip bar can snap into place or has it been replaced by the sliding bar design on the VF-0's?

Nope, the 1/48 re-issue should be the same as the original issue. The nosecone pin will still be there. I doubt there will be any more changes to the 1/48 design.
