I finally put some clothes on Maz...
...poor baby was feeling drafty in my room. lol
(
I keep my room at 50deg F so my computer gear won't fry)
TMZ, you're right, his armor is die-cast
(
except for the face, neck, hand sets,
biceps and thighs, and forearms)
I wasn't looking at the instructions; but as soon as
I brought an armor part close to the body I could see
how the parts attach... Genius.
I was giddy as I heard the sounds of snap-in parts!
I used the split-chest armor halves, like TMZ did on his...
Maz looks so much more Toei that way!
I then used the split-stomach armor to imitate
the "Missile Punch" hatch...... BOOM!
The articulated hands (and the skeleton fists) are a bit
of a struggle to snap onto the forearm, so I detach the
forearm from the body and snap the hands and armor on,
then I place the forearm back onto the bicep...
...the best way to reattach the forearm is to bend
the elbow completely out of the forearm and hold the
red cable down as you mate the gray peg inside the
center hole in the bicep, push firmly until you
hear a loud snap, and THEN release the red cable.
The faces: gotta be careful with them. They attach fine,
but they will fall off as you handle the DX figure.
Attach the neck FIRST and then the face.
The faces also attach to the upper left corner (YOUR left)
of the hangar... you'll see an outline for it...
make sure you line the snap-tabs to the slots
so that the face will Stay on that wall.
It fell off on me the first time I bumped the hangar door.
I will certainly copy the full face with resin and paint the eyes
yellow in my resin copy... my Maz HAZ to have his yellow eyes On.
As for placing all the extra parts inside the hangar,
it is VERY IMPORTANT that you read the manual and the illustrations.
Them parts are supposed to be placed in specific areas
of the hangar side walls.
I can't help yacking on so much about this toy... I'd rather do a full
toy review for my Toyopsy.
I love everything about this DX set. If I could make any
improvements on it, I would place a soft rubber sleeve over
the elbow as Maz is posed.
That wide open space in the elbow looks like a
"screen door attached to a submarine by a piece of string".
Another improvement I would make is to install the floor lights
further apart in the hangar base, and then in the center of the
hangar floor I would install a motorized turntable platform...
...with a motorized catwalk out in front of it so that Maz
can be showcased, and brought out of the hangar front and center.
OR... I would just install a catwalk extending from the hangar
like a "bridge" to the Jet Scrander's flat base stationed
out in front of the hangar.
This catwalk/bridge idea can be done with a grey Lego plate
and some guard rails.
Several months ago when the DX was just coming into
the market, I had envisioned so much creative potential
coming out of that DX hangar alone, it's mind-blowing!
The DX Mazinger-Z figure is a Beautiful Beast.
But the
hangar is gonna steal the show later on.
Just you wait and see.
