And... here's my Leopaldan machinder refurb project.
About a year ago, as most RJ'ers know, a young lady showed up on the boards asking about repro parts for her brother's Popy Leo, purchased for him by their military Dad stationed in Japan in the early 80's.
Everyone was very helpful to her, but she pretty much gleaned that Leo was too valuable to keep- and then he showed up on ebay a couple of weeks later missing his fists, shin web shields, chest- pretty much everything. The only thing he had was most of his stickers, although they were curled due to what I believe she described as a "bathtub incident".
His fists are the boot D17's. I replaced their shoddy firing nubs with large, metal screws that I... screwed into the ends of the firing pins so they wouldn't shoot off at random times in the middle of the night, scaring everyone in the house.
Shin web shields, chest plate and tiny Spidy are of course, supplied by Kitsir.
The stickers are all original- I didn't have to recreate any- I just used crazy glue to tamp them down from their curled positions.

And then, a year later, after many fruitless ebay searches... I found it. The popy diecast spider car. For $30. Sweetness.

That is an incredible refurb that I hope to be able to replicate. My Leo should be here in a few weeks and I can't wait to begin the process. Is there any specific keyword or title I should search under when trying to find that spidey car? Kitsir will be doing my surgery along with assistance from Bourno and maybe some others. Did you have to send your Leo out to Kitsir or did all the parts just snap into place? Either way, your Jumbo's are incredible! I don't know how to break the news to my D-17 but he'll be an amputee real soon!! LOL!

For the popy spider car, I searched under "popy spiderman" for a year before it came up. I saw a bunch of other cars, but none the right size.
Kitsir's repro parts just snap in easily.
As for this being "baby doll"s Leo, I wasn't sure it was but when I asked the seller where the jumbo came from he told me the same 'Dad stationed in Japan' story that babydoll did.
Maybe I'm wrong but it all seemed to fit together in the end.

Christ, after seeing your pics, I set out that day to find a spider car. Low and behold, within only minutes of scouring E-Bay, I found a mib spider car, unfortunately for the tune of $100. It was expensive but after reading that it took you over a year of fruitless searching I figured that it would be a c-note well spent. I'm still waiting on my Leo JM but it seems that I've accomplished a major feat in finding something so rare. Thanks for the pics, they are definitely going to be a major point of reference for me.
