I know that the War Within designs were done mostly by Don. F but who actually owns the rights to them. Since Dreamwave is basically dead and gone does it mean that Hasbro/Takara/Tomy owns them? Did they both co-owned them and since no one is allowed to use Dreamwave properties that just leaves Hasbro? I know that some of the Titanium figures Hasbro is releasing is from the War Within series but I also noticed that the new Transformers: Storm bringer series which takes place on Cybertron and has the Transformers in their original Cybertronium forms is different than the ones in the WWI series. If that's true then it's a shame that the guy who came up with the designs can't even be allowed to use them.

All good questions Chen. Hasbro most probably owns all the rights, since they own the characters the new designs represent. I too noticed how the new Stormbringer series features new pre-Earth designs for characters already shown in War Within, but I don't know why that is the case. It would seem to me that if consistency was kept, there would be more authenticity to the mythos, but they seem to change many things around at their own liberty. So who knows.

I'm assuming Hasbro has the rights to it. (you'll proably a Hasbro copyright on the comic). Because it has the title "TRansformers" on it. It happens a lot business... people are hired to design and create stuff by a different company. In the gaming field for example there developers called third party developers. A game published by say Sega, doesn't necessarily mean its made by that company. But its done to distribute. But Sega own rights to or buy the rights away from the Publisher.
For Hasbro, They sell off their liscence to comic companies and take a big chunk of their shares. (they probably can do whatever they want with approval by hasbro, but they get to use the liscence knowing everything they own is owned by Hasbro (with varying conditions)). I'm assuming Dreamwave has rights for publication rights. But Hasbro owns all characters and stuff created from the franchise.
And yes it is Said that Don can't use his own creation. But you'd be surpised how much the industry is like that. See any of the designers by Lucas Arts or ILM. all the concept artists don't own any of their work.
Although be happy. I bet Don probably be working a lot with Hasbro and Takara (and I think has done a little bit already)

hello everyone ;D im a newbee and a transformers fan. i just purchased my titanium war within 6in optimus prime. and boy was it heavy. i think that the die cast content was around 80%. i didnt purchase the megatron because i think that the design of the megatron titanium did not reflect the comics version of the dreamwave comics. it was i think a completely new design. the war within titanium 6in optimus prime robot somehow reflected the dreamwave comics design on the robot mode but the vehicle mode has somewhat different but is similar in a lot of ways. i have the pictures on my nokia cellphone and im still figuring out the way to post them. since im a newbee on forums. may i ask anybody to help me post pictures. im using windows xp.

Someone once told me that the Titanium 6" Megatron diesign is based off the Gijoe Vs. Transformers books I didn't get those comics so I was wondering if anyone could post a pic? I've lost track of how many times the "Gijoe Vs. Transformers" has been retold. But apparently the "tech spec" on the box of Titanium Megatron describes the War Within Megatron(based on the mention of "Sentinel Prime's" destruction). Yet the toy bears only a passing resemblence to the WW Megatron. Gold

you are right gold. ive scanned most of my gi joe vs trandformers comics and i havent noticed any megatron that looked familiar with the titanium toy. by the way, ive noticed the paint on my titanium ww prime is very poor. looks like a kid painted it. but i like the design of primes vehicle mode. kinda looked like some futuristic ramming truck. ;D ive heard there is more war within titanium coming and one of them is "the fallen". i would like to see that.

How's the quality of the figure, I hear the paint job isn't that great. I'm still getting this since it is sort of a "official" Cybertronian Prime.

hello chen, the paint job of the titanium WW optimus prime 6in is very poor, there are lots of smear that it looks like a kid painted it. some of the silver parts are unpainted and the paint wash was applied on some parts and not to others. the box art is better than the actual figure. i think i can paint it better with my paint experience during my table top warhammer figure painting lessons. there was no highlight and the ink wash was done poorly. but it looks great on my prime collection, in fact its my toy of the week, i love looking at the design. give me a week and ill try to post some pictures. ;D
