Not doing anything for me. Glad I won't have to go through the struggles to try to secure the preorder for one of these.

I think it looks awesome although I wished they at least changed the head. I really don't want to pay another 200 bucks for just a repaint.

The online shop like Amiami, AE or Nippon Yasian are all ordering to few (maybe one) distributor who are directly in touch with Bandai. Now they changed the way they fix prices : they are proposing different waves of sales rather than proposing a global quantity to the retailer shops. Nippon Yasan explain me that the Durandal 30 th Anniversary was first on pre-order at € 150 , everything was gone in less than 10 minutes, then they returned to pre-order a € 184, ->gone in two hours !
-> I saw it was sold out at Amiami and AE, so I quickly jump to Nippon Yasan to catch the gem : the 2nd preorder was online, but "pre-order button" was... gone too... FAAAAAIIIIIIILLLLLLL... Then I received an e-mail : "we have this item restock" -> 23,500¥ / €240 ! ! !
Blam !...

So I talked to someone at the HLJ booth at SDCC. What he said is that Bandai and Yamato are overly cautious about ever being in the discount bin. They want to keep their lines perceived as the top of the line and most desired products around. o they would rather make less and have them fly off the shelves than see them in the discount bin a few months later. They create excitement by instilling that fear that if I don't order one right away it will be gone. If you thought it would be there in a few weeks you might wait and then forget, and never get it, and their would be a reduced perception of future releases in the product line. As reasonable an answer as I could imagine. So, I guess we just deal with it.

Meh, I think thats retarded. So instead of discount bins they put them in carnage double/triple the price bins? sounds great. They should just space out releases then so they at least give a chance to the rest of us that arnt hitting the refresh button 24/7 or get really lucky for the few hours they are instock after they are posted.

I'm really getting frustrated at Bandai's recent policy. I guess I'll never have any chance to get any of their new Macross Frontier products this way. BTW, so what if their product ended up in the discount bin anyway? Bandai already made their profits with the retailers

BTW, so what if their product ended up in the discount bin anyway? Bandai already made their profits with the retailers If you build a reputation for your toys getting heavily discounted, you end up like CM's, where nobody wants to buy your toys on release. Retailers will see low pre-orders, and then THEY won't buy very many. If retailers don't buy it, then the manufacturer is stuck with overstock that they dumped a ton of resources into producing, and then they either discount it out to try and regain what little return they can or suffer with it for an eternity, all of their money tied up in dead stock. This keeps the production wheels turning so that we're at least getting consistant toy releases. CM's corp? Their brave gokin line is all but dead.

^ That's true, if you have really obscure IPs like most of the CMs releases. This is Macross Frontier merchandising we're talking about, which I believe is quite a big hit with the fans. As far as I know, even the crappy first release sold quite well. IMHO, since Bandai already have a record of sales from the first version Macross Frontier DX toys, they should produce at least a similar number to the sold figures. Heck, with a hot IP like Koutetsu Jeeg, even CMS is selling like hot cakes and pretty much sold out anywhere. Had they managed to get their Gaiking the Great set out, I believe that will be another hit. I could be really wrong though... I'm just ranting cause I missed the pre-order for both the VF-25G and the 30th Anniversary YF-29
