Hi, I have not brought or shopped for any vintage stuff for 10yrs as it seems to be way above my budget. I have some money saved and just curious if the market right now is a buyers or sellers? Thank you for all the help.

It depends on who you ask ( ) and what in particular you are looking for. I think that in general, the lower end stuff can be had for good prices. But the upper end stuff is extremely high priced. Plus, if you are looking for MIMB stuff, expect to pay top dollar, regardless of rarity.

Thank you for the quick reply and info. Looking to purchase some godaikin dx stuff like Daltanias, Voltron, Godmars.
I primarily been buying S.O.C items but thought of buying vintage items if the price seems to have dropped or slowed down. Thanks again.

I'll concur with KingboyD - if you are looking for complete/untouched in Minty boxes, the market is not kind on the wallet. If your willing to trade off the mint conditions, average used items in loose/average box conditions can be had for very decent prices if you can be patient.

Here is an article I wrote that applies. It is along the same lines: www.robot-japan.com/item/robots.htmlIf you buy loose incomplete Godaikins you can do well and now is a good time. But getting picky on details will cost...

I've been primarily buying loose but nice Popy GA through GC.
I have yet to buy a few combiners like Voltes V DX, Combattler DX due to price. I think it's best to follow auctions and do searches and get familiar with the market. I don't think a nice loose Voltes V DX can really be had under $350 and MIB I'm guessing more like $1000. I see Godmars for less I think its not as popular.

Loose godaikin tetsujin seems to have gone up quite a bit for the past 2 years.

The asking prices might have. However, none of them are selling. ebay's new policy of free listings is screwing things up. There are no repercussions to listing obscene starting auction prices.

Godaikins way over priced right now. One would think in this crummy economy the prices would drop, but Godaikins and Voltrons have only gone up. Great for the collector who has them, bad for the buyer. At least the Taiwan KO versions prices are way down. I am looking to snag a few up while the getting is good since they are actually good quality.

Sorry to side track this thread, but since the Taiwanese KO's were brought up, does anyone know where can I purchase these Taiwanese KO's at decent prices?
Yes, they are crap, but I want to decorate my cube.

I'll have a Daltanious KO being sold along with a ton September 13th. It will be online too at www.MorphyAuctions.com Not to self promote too much, LOL, but I REALLY hope you as well as others can get my stuff/schwagg for a good price. With 600 or so lots prices will be very fair if not low I bet. It was that way last massive collection was sold. It was too much at once, but good for buyers. E

Back on topic lol I have had several interesting scores this past year. I really started to get into godaikins albeit slowly after looking in my toyroom at the boxed daltanias I got around 1990 or 92.
Other than a boxed biodragon and laserion that I scored for $90 and $100 respectfully, I started to get great deals on some mint incomplete stuff even if there was some repair needed. Like a couple solid guardians with good knees but repairable heads for $20 each, some more god marz bots, random godaikin parts etc.
My three biggest scores were as follows: a boxed golion missing six missiles, the booklet, and a little cardboard piece along with a boxed voltes with everything but the string (crewzer head broken), original treads unbroken, and rough lid. On a separate occasion after this, there was another boxed voltes as well that had a worse lid and box, faded big fists, no overlay, no booklet or string, but great chrome, intact crewzer and shiny paint and original treads unbroken.
For these three I paid what I feel most people would pay for a really good golion. It was well UNDER $1000 total with shipping. You just have to dig and you will find stuff. I have picked up some steals on eBay as I am starting to know what to look for and be patient on certain items, especially some I don't know the value on.
The price gouging is ridiculous and I am glad I look for playable/displayable mint stuff (my collecting style) and I am also glad I have been slightly reserved because I am not as well versed on this segment of the hobby as I am with other vintage toys.
I don't have a lot of room to take very good pictures yet, but I have been shooting an iPhone pic or two over to Ed every now and then. I hope to get a big enough spot cleared with good lighting and I will make a new thread about the big three I scored above so you guys can get a look at them. If you went to the northeast summit last year I was there and had the first two with me.
