These guys have been flooding ebay lately and are being sold out of China. I decided to give them a try. It's been a very long time since I had the originals (1985), so it's difficult to make a completely accurate comparison, but these guys are as good as a genuine Takara reissue. Strong joints, good plastic, die-cast where there should be die-cast, and even the cards they come on are flawless replicas of real G1 packaging. There are only two problems with these cassettes:
1. Some of the stickers seemed a bit loose. The forearm stickers for Frenzy and Rumble, in particular, were flying off as I transformed them. Once reattached, they seemed to stay though. No trouble with the bigger stickers.
2. For some reason, Frenzy and Rumble will not fit inside a G1 Soundwave. I tried this and ended up ruining their leg stickers (which really bummed me out). Laserbeak and Buzzsaw will fit inside of Soundwave without a problem though.
Aside from these two minor issues, these are perfect replicas, and I highly recommend them.

yup, there was a dog, leopard or a four legged robot of some kind. i dont know it's name. but it transform into a cassette. i remember it has some missile on its back. ill try to look for them.
there was also an all plastic version which sold for as low as a US dollar or 50 philippine pesos. dirt cheap. and available with different assorted colors.
ive been watching these bootleg transformers and from the last time i saw. there was the galaxy convoy versions. from what i remember. galaxy convoy, dirt boss, nitro convoy was available as i speak. just checked at our local toykingdom stores here 2 days ago.
incidentally, "toys R us" opened just recently here in the philippines and bootleg or fake transformers are sold side by side with the original ones from the same TRU stores. tsk tsk. kinda makes you wonder what policies TRU are practicing here against bootleg products. ;D

The dog is Ravage, and I haven't seen his KO up on ebay yet.
The all black Prime KO looks sweet as heck, but the sellers want too much for him right now. As with all KO's that flood the ebay market, I'm sure the prices will eventually drop on these.

you got it shaxper.
found the ravage i was talking about. and i was wrong. lord zarak was right. it was not a KO but was only a cheap plastic immitation bigger than the KO. also found a rhino that transforms into a cassette. price tag was still on it. 10 phil. pesos only, around 20 cents.
a lot of this i remember were sold in our country specifically in a town called divisoria. it was sold in the streets as "banig sets". you have to buy at least a dozen to get it real cheap.
also, the classic combiners are sold here as a smaller version of the original. i have devastator, bruticus and the combiner with lots of airplanes. forgot the name. they can be dismantled to form the small robots and are very good immitations but is only around 6 inches when combined.

hello and welcome kidchuckle
fake transformers here in the philippines comes and goes, sometimes they are the same and sometimes they appear in different colors, sizes and material. since i was a transformers fan. im fully aware of this market and a favorite here are the transformable robots that are almost identical to the original but is only 10% priced than that of the original toys.
the company that imports them here legally sadly only imports the second or the third to the last batches. and since optimus and most of the major characters appear on the first batch. major characters are only available through stores that imports them from hong kong which is more expensive since these stores are buying them at the secondary market price in hong kong.
this being the case. bootlegs are selling a lot faster here than the original. sometimes they are sold at major toy stores such as toysRus and toykingdom side by side. some of the favorites are the G1 soundwave, optimus, starscream, megatron and other classic molds. you will notice them packaged with weapons, trailers, armamens and other accessories not associated with them.
the cassettes are also a favorite here and they are sold in plastics that are stapled in a cardboard panel so that if you buy them, you just select the character you want and pluck them from the cardboard panel called "banigs" here. this is a custom to small toys sold in a place here called divisoria.
i remembered having a complete set of these cassettes after reading this thread and i dug them up in my toy bin, but sadly, a friend of mine saw them and offered me to trade them for something i need from him before i coud take some pictures the same day you asked for their picture later that day.
i have some pictures i took today from the malls that carry these fake transformers but the cassettes are not available today and i will post them at shaxpers bootleg thread, see if you can spot the classic G1 there.
i want to take another set of pictures with the original and the fake side by side. i need some time. ;D
