Hey guys. Been watching the Masterforce series just released here in the Uk and I'm really keen to get my hands on the Jap exclusive toy of Metalhawk (mint in box). Has anyone got one they would be interested in selling or trading? Or has anyone got any ideas on a good source for this item? Cheers...

Good luck! I FINALLY got one about a few months back (not MIB but I rarely care for the box anyway). Love the zinc! Hefty lil' bugger. I had found mine through BBTS as they had one up for sale in the G1 section. I had previously searched high and low on eBay for over a few years without any luck. I hope you have an easier time finding one than I did.

They released Headmasters last year, Masterforce last month and Victory will be out before the end of the year. Headmasters had the nasty Star TV English Dubbing but it also had English Subtitles with Jap Soundtrack (which was quite nicely done, except they renamed all the characters to their US\UK naming where possible). For Masterforce they dropped the old dub (no great loss) but this time they used the Subs that TV-Nihon had done for their fans subs (though they changed them slightly, re-wording a couple of bits to read better). I guess they'll do the same for Victory. But the best thing about these sets is that they are so cheap. Both sets (Headmasters came on 4 discs and Masterforce on 5) released so far have been selling online (from Amazon) for a paltry £20- £30 for the complete series!!!

Are you sure they used TVnihon's sub? If so that is SO uncool! But I might give them a go though. Does art actually look like they are on the back of the box?

They did use TV Nihon's subs, but it was all done legitimately and they were credited in the box and everything. Actually, it might be truer to say that they used their translation and re-coded the subs to get rid of the cool little animated bits that those guys throw in.... The artwork for the Masterforce series is beautiful (a perfect example of mid to late 80's SCi-fi anime (think of the better parts of Dancouga or Dangaioh). Headmasters really isn't much of an improvement over the original western series (a couple of fights are quite nice, butit's nothing compared to Masterforce, Victory or Zone)... Bottom line, if you're a TF fan and you can get your hands on these sets, then you gotta do it....

The Headmasters set released over here was Region 0 (effectively region free) so you'll be able to import it and play it hassle free, but the Masterforce set was released as Region 2 (apparently the Victory set will be the same). Most Computers have Region locking (but I believe there rae programmes out there that can crack this)...The other thing to bear in mind is that these sets are encodeed as PAL not NTSC, so you've gotta have a compatible TV set to watch 'em properly....

Not nessesarly. All you need to do is get a cheap $30 dvd player which has multiregion and pal support. Mine converted to ntsc from pal so it would work on any television set.
