message is as title reads. does anyone know how many of each there are of the U5 jumbos? im looking over my garadas and kind of laughing at the sculpt, wondering if it will ever be worth what popy jumbos go for now. i think the quantities made of the U5's will make a difference. garada is very cool, just that the U5 one does look like it would make for the worlds cutest lawn sprinkler. he makes me smile.

There were three Garadas, and one of Gaiking, Mazinger Z, and Great Mazinger.

Considering there are what 3 examples of the OG garada and in my possession I have had 4 U5 Garadas I dont think they will ever see half the value of OG.

im sure that is true. i dont mean that any of the U5's would be worth an original garada, i am curious to see one day if ANY U5's will be worth what a popy goes for now. popy jumbos are usually 300-800 USD on the low end. i wonder if my U5 Gaiking will be worth 800 bucks in 20 years. its pretty unlikely any U5 will sell for 20,000 USD, unless its filled with cocaine and diamonds.

I see no reason to think the value will decline unless a bunch more are found in a stock room. It Will be interesting to see whether Garada's value matches the rest of the U5's. Especially the 2 original paint jobs(white & green). I would imagine the black one will be more valuable because of its rarity. 5 years ago we could have gotten a U5 Garada for $80. Now the are double, sometimes triple that

Hi Will, yes I agree too, for eg 5 years ago a MIB mazinger Z or great mazinger cost only about US$100 ++... because there are many sellers.. i think now more pple are seeing the value in U5 as it is also japanese version and i do see less sellers nowadays..i do see U5 great mazinger sold for around US$300 lately...my take is the potential is there....I am also looking forward to add a few more black garadas for a bet on it ;D
best, d.o.e

didnt U5 also try to pass off the standard green garada as some kind of special edition? did that mean it was limited edition, or was the number of production so moderate that without a a second run it could be called "limited" or "special edition?"
but not to lose track, does anyone know if any numbers on the box, etc. of the U5's indicate series numbers, editions, etc? same for popy's, i guess. does anyone know production numbers of those, or is it a mystery as to how many mattel, U5, and popy jumbos there are?

I really can't imagine the prices of these climbing to anywhere near what true Popy machinders current sell for. I think the market has been fairly stable over the last few years, and these are certainly not rare. You can find the common ones on ebay at any time. joweone was nice enough to hook me up with the standard green one not too long ago for a very reasonable price (and I am truly grateful), but I don't think that this is going to be a highly valuable item in the future. I just wanted one in my collection because I really dig it, not because of its value.
The Great Mazinger one has always been expensive, mostly because of the wings. But the Maz Z and the Gaiking can still be had for a reasonable price.
